I wanted to drop the documentary list before we close out Asian American and Pacific Islander Month. Remember education starts with you and there are many ways to find answers. wins again with its giant list of documentaries so please sign up for that library card.

You’ve seen what’s happened to MENA since at least the 1980s and more importantly what’s developing today. You’ve seen first hand accounts and stories as the unfold.

As we celebrate Arab American Heritage Month we should also learn more about their histories. I don’t like that most of these documentaries are sad but they’re definitely necessary to be better allies.

Shout out to for literally having the most this month and high key shame on every other platform for not.

To kick things off I’ve made you a list of most of the documentaries you’ll find on various platforms plus some movies and shows bc we’ve been getting some opportunities. Gotta highlight those. (Aka peacock why did you cancel Rutherford falls 😡).

(I waited an extra day to post to make sure nothing new was added but sometimes you needed to be hyper specific for them to pop up)

PBS online and Tubi also have a bunch but I’m limited to 10 slides max. Also some are in Spanish/ Portuguese and captions are your bff.

Unions hold an important place in our history. They helped get us labor rights and helped protect them as the years went on by. They’re collectives that being people together to negotiate and ensure our contracts are honored.

Having the right to unionize is powerful and seeing two of the biggest brands in the US fight for their right is just inspiring.

Did you know about the Mascogos de México?

Today is Juneteenth a day of commemoration and remembrance of one of the darkest times in US history. It's important to acknowledge the legacy that is left today by slavery. We must remember in our fight for liberation that nobody is free until we're all free. (Fannie Lou Hammer).

Juneteenth is about the liberation of enslaved Black folks in Texas- specifically Galveston. However, it's essential to recognize that prior to April 21, 1836- slavery was illegal in Texas as it was abolished in México in 1829. In fact, Mexico has the first Afro-Indigenous president, Vincente Guerrero, but that's a conversation for another day.
