I was a bird so free and beautiful singing the loveliest of song you seen me and you had to have me captured me and put me on display once others started to see what you had you silently started to take from me all the things you loved and once valued about me my freedom went first then feathers to keep me from flying my beauty my voice ability to stand on my own once you had everything you could take from me I no longer had value to you you told me how ugly I was worthless knowing you did this told me no one would ever want me after what I'd become what you made me you underestimated me you failed to see I was a phoenix I'd rise again you didn't take my heart and you didn't take my strength I learned to stand tall and walk once again I grew my feathers back I will sing again I'm still practicing flying but freedom is so near I can feel the breeze
