Activists and community members took part in a three-mile walk to a ballot drop box on the Navajo Nation recently. The "Walk to the Polls" event is part of a get-out-the-vote campaign focused on increasing voter turnout within tribal communities. Find out more on this week's episode of the RMCR Regional Roundup on KHEN 106.9 FM on Thursday at 10 AM.

Our DJ Dance Party this Saturday at High Side Bar & Grill wraps up our pledge drive and features a drawing @ 7:30 for our KHEN raffle.

KHEN started in an alley in 2003, created by hardworking folks who'd dreamed of community radio in Salida. Programming began at 8am, ran till 6pm, with Jimi Hendrix's version of the Star Spangled Banner always closing out the day.

Things have changed in 22 years--new building, new faces-- but we're still just a bunch of volunteers who believe in community radio.

Tune in today, Oct. 19th from 5-6 as Ken Mathews hosts a discussion of Chaffee County ballot measures 6A and 6B. Ken is joined by Read McCulloch of the Chaffee Housing Trust and Marjo Curgus, interim director of the Chaffee Housing Authority.

6A is seeking voter approval for a 0.5% tax increase to create a 12-year dedicated fund for the construction and development of affordable housing

6B is seeking voter approval to permit the Chaffee Housing Authority to retain Colorado state and intergovernmental grants, contributions, and loans above the annual revenue limit (TABOR).
