Local Businesses: Many of you are looking for a magic marketing bullet when it comes to fostering growth.

Bad:
* Thinking online reviews don't matter
* Not asking for reviews at all and thinking the internet fairies will simply take care of it
* Being afraid of online reviews because you don't want to hear bad feedback
* Beg your friends and family to leave reviews because you heard it was a good strategy vs. asking real customers for authentic reviews
* Trying to prevent people from writing reviews using a 'review gating' mechanism (if someone really wants to write a bad review, they will find a way. Consumers are smart)
OK:
* Make a post on Facebook every 6-12 months asking for a review from your page audience, which very few people see
* Include a link to your Google review page in the bottom of your email signature
* Only focusing on Google reviews
* Sending one email out asking for a review
* Not promoting reviews once you get them
Great:
✅ Proactively ask for reviews within your daily, weekly, or project-completion routine
✅ Use a system to send out a review campaign with several touches instead of a single email. Let's face it, while we all have good intentions, we get busy and need reminders
✅ Include Google and at least one other option, like Facebook or WhirLocal, so that customers who don't have a Google account or who otherwise may not want to post a review on Google still have a place to write a review (in our experience this is about 20-25% of your customers)
✅ Include a single review link in your email, on your website, on invoices, and any other communication with your customers to make it stupid-easy
✅ Promote your positive reviews and reputation everywhere
