As a little girl, I would lay in bed at night staring at my Clyde “the Glide” Drexler poster dreaming of playing in the NBA.
Tonight, I watched history being made when held her own against one of the greatest 3-point shooters in the history of the league.

BYP at the US Mexico border. A totally surreal experience. My daughter’s father’s side is from Michoacán. Almost 40 years ago, that brave mother carried her babies (my daughter’s father as an infant & uncle as a toddler) to an unknown land for the hope of a better life. That image was in my mind when I saw the man-made wall blocking the road to hope. I couldn’t hold it together. All those thoughts & feelings were & are too much to bear. As a country, we have even closed down important meeting points for families, like Friendship Park. Why, as a species, are we so damn hateful? We immigrated here from lots of different places. We stole the land from the indigenous & claimed it as our own. We CONTINUE TO discriminate, brutalize, torture, murder incident humans for the sake of putting a stripped & starred piece of fabric on it. How barbaric. Be kind to your fellow humans. Stand up for what you believe in. And get to work.
