I belieeeeve I have dermatitis from the stupid makeup wipes.
I realized wow, these are scales. It felt raw, and wouldn’t heal. So I re-vamped what I was doing.

Nowww my skin feels *better* but I am nottttt content with what daytime products l’m using !! Either way, here’s what l’m doing

A.M. Routine:
Origins Soothing Toner Lotion 1/10
(not sure if this is doing anything to help it seems like scented water)
Soothing moisturizers 3/10
(Scented but kinda help)
GLYMED Gel SPF 7.9/10
(Looove but pills)

P.M. Routine:
Primally Pure Regenerative serum 8.2/10
(Reallyyyy like, helps aging and acne without crazy chemicals, no burning like other actives)
Primally Pure Soothing Cream 8.9/10
(Love. Does exactly what it says, “balmy moisturizer”, not heavy at all and very moisturizing)

Hey I’m Meloney, and I have Acne Excoriée 🥲🥺 Do you have it?? And what the heck is that?

🛑Acne Excoriée (excoriation disorder): a subconscious, repetitive, and uncontrollable desire to pick, scratch, or rub acne lesions.

I didn’t know WHY I couldn’t stop picking my acne
I didn’t realize how OFTEN I did it
And ofc I KNEW how much it makes it worse.
Yet, it’s simplified to one solution: JUST STOP

Acne is still taboo, shamed, and viewed as “dirty” 🥲
Coupled with acne, having A.E. makes it much worse.

I’ve had this “syndrome” or “disorder” since I developed acne around 10 (early puberty)

Over 20 years later, here’s what I’ve learned:

💫💫💫Sometimes you’re fine, sometimes it’s out of control…
-Stress, anxiety, and OCD aren’t predictable.
-I accept and make peace with the facttt that in the hard times, I’m going to control what I CAN, which leads me to my next step!

💫💫💫Self soothing ADEQUATELY my babe!!!!
-for me this means relaxing baths, meditations, affirmations, laying onnnn my self love thiiick
-i ask myself “how GOOD has my self care been?” Because the answer is consistently “notttt good”. A lot of this is a mentalll game so I have to get ahead of it. When stress goes up, our self care HAS to go up..

💫💫💫Educating the haters!!
-ok so they’re not haters lol but explaining this condition to the people who say “JUST STOP” helped them have more sympathy which stopped the unnecessary comments/added stress

💫💫💫Soothing products only!
-if my skin feels rawww (like today) I skip all my acne/aging products and run straight for my soothinnng hydrationnnn for relief and healing. I’m happy to post/send my favorite products🫶🏼🩷

So… How do you “get” acne excoriée? According to google: “often due to underlying psychological factors like anxiety, stress, or obsessive-compulsive disorder”

I’ve never talked about this and that’s honestly because I’m a little ashamed that I “do” this… but at the same time that shame is not MINE. It’s society’s. That’s it!!

Who you are isn’t who you’ve been🤎 it’s amazing to watch people evolve, not everyone does.
It takes a lot of bravery to start, and strength to continue. So if you’re in this with me, I’m so proud of you. You’re overcoming your past and the cycles and that’s HARD. It’s not pretty, it’s not perfect, so have GRACE for yourself.

Anyone who doesn’t know, this is my twin sister Ashley☯️ When we were growing up, she knew she wanted to beee a model. Not just “model” but actually BE A MODEL. There’s a difference, those that get it just get it.
We grew up in a v interesting household where you had to dream big but not TOO big. Be the best!!! but it was still never good enough. For me that burnt me out and I adopted the “f*** trying then.” NOT ASHHH. She said imma do it bigger and you can watch 🙂‍↔️
No one believed in her. None of us. So she broke the mold and left. It makes me sad she had to do that alone, but the strength?? Unmatched. (I wish I would have woken up sooner sis. I’ll make up for that.)

Getting to see her now is the coolest thing because I know the hate she had to endure to keep this dream alive. It’s amazing that you never gave up❤️ Justin and Ash have been shooting together since 2017 and the ease of their collaboration flows like WATER.

Incredible to watch, perfect chance to step back into the makeup game with my ride or die… cheers to many more. 🫶🏼
