Sat down to journal and the first page was this… my manifest for my trip home, a sudden solo cross country trip.
9/17/24, s*t hit the fan and there was no staying in TN. I had about a day to get my bearings, load down my Jeep, and get the fck out.
On the 18th around 5PM EST I loaded up Harley and threw on a happy playlist to contrast my fear. (Totally helped)
A storm was rolling in, heavy rains and high winds. I had abouuut $160ish to my name. “Idk how I’m gonna do it but it’s GOING TO WORK OUT.” Even if I had to show a lil leg ;) ya know?! lol.
The first 3 hours was the most INSANE sideways rain- everyone was pulling over, I thought if I stop how long will I have to stay? 25mph, slow lane, just me and the truckers cruised along. 🚙
Looking back, of course it had to rain, so dramatic. Twas just a (scary) cleansing of what I was leaving behind. 🥲🌧️
When the sun peeked through again I was entering another state. Divine. Goodbye, TN.
The FIRST night, Harley and I hunkered down in a parking lot of Love’s. It was about 2am… idk what state we made it to, but we SURE didn’t hit 12 hours of driving. There goes my plan🥲
I had Harley in a makeshift bed on the passengers seat, I couldn’t recline my seat bc of the crap behind it. Hell of a way to end the first day, I was actually excited. I was enroute with my best shotgun rider🥹
That night, I streamed Monster’s Inc. on my phone. “If I die, I die” I figured . So be it if some crazy killer got me, im gonna SLEEP. 🤣
We woke up with every big rig’s engine starting up, slamming car door…
BUT WE MADE IT THROUGH THE “NIGHT”
Taking off around 7, we trekked again and again and again. Soaked up the beauty of every sunrise and sunset.
And OF COURSE my dad said “hell no” to the truck stop sleepovers! Daily he sent $$ that kept Harley and I fed & sheltered - his “I love you be safe” from afar.😭
Round two of 2400 miles with my Harley girl.
I lied to myself to keep that happiness- no concerns allowed for those 3 days.
Just enjoy the ride, it’s all gonna work out.
Okay, love ya, bye!💖
