This TV movie came out in 1983 when I was 13!

Still creeps me out!

In the mid-1980s, the U.S. is poised on the brink of nuclear war. This shadow looms over the residents of a small town in Kansas as they continue their daily lives. Dr. Russell Oakes (Jason Robards) maintains his busy schedule at the hospital, Denise Dahlberg prepares for her upcoming wedding, and Stephen Klein (Steve Guttenberg) is deep in his graduate studies. When the unthinkable happens and the bombs come down, the town's residents are thrust into the horrors of nuclear winter.

Vanity 6 was an American female vocal trio formed in the early 1980s, produced by Prince. The group originally consisted of Susan Moonsie, Brenda Bennett, and Vanity, with Prince providing provocative songs. Their most famous track, "Nasty Girl," became a hit on the U.S. R&B and Dance charts. Vanity 6 was known for their sexy image and stage performances. The group toured as the opening act for Prince's 1999 tour. Vanity left the group in 1983, and the trio was later renamed Apollonia 6. Vanity pursued a solo career, became a born-again Christian, and passed away in 2016 due to kidney disease.❤️🎼🎶🖤

Peter Murphy and Boy George Collaborate for First Time on Enchanting Ballad of Transformation, “Let the Flowers Grow”.

Initially written by George, “Let the Flowers Grow” was a song about coming out as gay before it flourished into something more universal, spanning religion, race, and more.

Of their finished duet, George said, “It makes me dizzy and proud.” Murphy added, “Boy George loved it and I’m so glad that he did.”

BEFORE they were the Eurythmics they were the Tourists!

This week in 1979, the Tourists released their debut single “I Only Want To Be With You”.

The Tourists sprang out of the music revolution happening in London in the late 70's, and contained Dave Stewart and Annie Lennox who would later go on to worldwide success as the Eurythmics.

The song was "put down in twenty minutes at the end of the album sessions", with Lennox recording the vocals in one take…

Frankie Goes to Hollywood performing 'Relax' on Top of the Pops—a moment that captivated us in the 80's.

For those who weren't around, it's hard to grasp the level of controversy this song stirred up. Banned by the BBC for its provocative lyrics, it soared to the top of the charts despite (or maybe because of) the ban, staying there for five weeks. 'Relax' became one of the most iconic hits of the decade and was the second best-selling single of the 80's in the UK, with over two million copies sold. What a time, what a tune!
