The 100th anniversary presentation of the epic silent screen masterpiece, BEN-HUR: A TALE OF THE CHRIST
Fred Niblo's epic of the silent screen stars Ramón Novarro, Francis X. Bushman, Betty Bronson, May McAvoy and Carmel Meyers. The screen epic, with its famous sea battle and stunning chariot race offers 2 hours and 24 min. of thrills... the most expensive silent film ever made. Matías Bombal will introduce the picture and act as master of ceremonies. $15.00 all seats. Presented in the Orinda's original 1941 auditorium on the BIG screen.

We are presenting the 1987 Kevin Brownlow-David Gill Photoplay Restoration with tinted and two-color Technicolor sequences with a recorded orchestral score in stereophonic sound composed by Carl Davis.
The Orinda Theatre is nestled in the hills 15 miles east of San Francisco along Hwy 24. just east of the Caldecott Tunnel
Steps from the Orinda BART Station (Yellow Line)
Street parking. There is also a parking garage on the same block, $6.00 an hour (24/7). 3 hour validation possible, but a "Smart" phone is required as validation link is sent via text message after registering your telephone number and license plate on a tablet in the theatre.
Projection format: Digital, screened by a qualified projectionist from Local 107 of the IATSE.

The two BEN-HUR's. Ramón Novarro from the 1925 M-G-M version and Charlton Heston from M-G-M's 1959 remake at the premiere of the '59 version at the Lowe's State Theatre in New York City.
Both films are coming to the Orinda Theatre. The 1959 version will play as part of the new Matías Bombal’s Hollywood Wide Screen Roadshow Series on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at 11 a.m. We invite you to celebrate the 1925's BEN-HUR's 100th anniversary at the Orinda Theatre as a fundraiser for the theatre, THIS Sunday, December 21, 2025 at 11 a.m. Here is the facebook event link:
