I was so happy to spend my day spreading book joy at the Cabrillo Park Neighborhood Association Literacy Festival at the Meadowview Certified Farmers' Market South Sacramento! I gave over 200 new & diverse books to some pretty amazing kids! Providing quality & enjoyable #reading material to underserved kids is why I started my nonprofit & I'm so proud and grateful for all of your donations that helped make my dream a reality! It was a great privilege to speak at Cabrillo Park Neighborhood Association Literacy Festival at the Meadowview Certified Farmers' Market! I took some time to talk about why books can help kids understand the importance of #diversity #Inclusivity and #kindness, as well as shared some of my own personal book journey! Stories are the foundation of our lives, whether physical or oral & I’m honored to have the chance to inspire a love of #reading in young people throughout the #sacramento community! It was an amazing event, filled with smiling kids & lots of books!

It’s always a treat visiting #schools and #Giving stories, but it’s EXTRA special when I connect with students on a deeper level! And these delightful 4th grade students, like me, LOVE PERCY JACKSON! They even made their own PJO BOOK CLUB! How cool is that?! I had no idea I was going to be talking with so many Rick Riordan fans, which made it EXTRA special when I gave them each a copy of DAUGHTER OF THE DEEP!

Clothes and music may change throughout time, but middle grade family worries & friendship challenges remain! THINGS THAT SHIMMER is a fantastic read that I inhaled in a single sitting.
