I was at an MLK event on Saturday and they showed a video of a youth choir singing the Star-Spangled Banner. I was taken aback because I thought we were off that. This is one of the many problems with America, we see a problem and don't address it or make changes to make things better/equal. There's a long list of issues that have been ignored in this country.

At said event, they also showed a video of the same choir singing, the Black National anthem, Lift Every Voice and Sing. It made me thankful for the Black teachers I had in elementary school that taught us the words. Thank you, Mrs. Lambert & Mrs. Lois Barber. Where ever you are know you made a difference in my life.

Story time: my daughter's father had a photo album of women he dated before we got together. Fast forward a couple years and a baby, I found new pictures in the album and confronted him. He said, "That picture has been there." Sir, I know each and every picture that was there THESE are new! I dropped him, he moved in with her. I had regrets until he started trying to get back in my pants.

Granted we were not yet married but I wanted to show my girls the level of respect they should have for themselves. Now, I thank God I called the whole thing off.

BTW, he married the woman and when he died l, his years long girlfriend attended the funeral. Come to find out, when the girls would visit he would take them on his visits to see the girlfriend. The wife thought she was his "barber" because, one of her duties was cutting his hair. 😒
