We all know “stuff” can happen when you drive them. We had Amie’s ‘40 Suburban at the Gathering at the Roc this year, but leaving for the reliability run proved we had some reliability issues with the LT1 drivetrain. From what we can gather, it looks like it broke a valve (we now know that’s not uncommon with these engines) and then the broken valve pieces turned the cylinder wall into a blender…turning the aluminum piston into confetti. The good news is that the new engine is in and it won’t be long before it’s making noise and rolling down the road again. Anyone got some JB Weld? 😅 #LT1 #blownengine #uhoh #droppedvalve

We’re excited to finally be able to talk about this project we’ve been working on for about a year now! The 1940 Ford Coupe is the 2025/2026 Goodguys Rod & Custom Association Giveaway Vehicle - as seen and introduced on the cover of this month’s Gazette. We found and started with an original unrestored survivor, running and driving 1940 Ford we picked up in the California Central Valley and handed it off to American Stripping in Sacramento for the paint removal and powder prime. TCI Engineering hopped on board for this project providing the chassis with quality components from Currie Enterprises, Wilwood Disc Brakes and Ridetech. These GUNIWHEEL rollers make moving it around the shop a breeze. Power will come from a Ross Racing Engines blown Caddy, backed with a Tremec Transmissions TKX from American Powertrain. E. Black Design Co. knew exactly where we wanted to go with this and laid out the design perfectly with the idea of a stealthy moonshine runner.
