Week number two of Journey Joe's seven week Route 66 road trip. During this extended video, Journey Joe shares his Route 66 story through Missouri. Highlights include: Finding his credit card in a huge UPS terminal, a beautiful park in St. Louis, an old brewery, finding an old vacant hotel, Uncle Ernie's in Bourbon, MO, The Shamrock Court in Sullivan, MO, visiting with Connie at the Wagon Wheel Motel in Cuba, MO, seeing an identical 2004 Corvette, stoping at a Route 66 park in Lebanon, MO, walking a short distance to John's Modern Cabins on an abandoned section of old Route 66, Bourbon Cafe and Coffee Saloon, attending the memorial service for Ramona Lehman (Munger Moss Motel), sharing his lunch with a homeless man along the road, hitting a huge pothole on an interstate offramp and damaging two tires, staying 8 nights at the Rockwood Court and visiting with Phyllis Ferguson, checking our a very unique museum just down the street from the Rockwood Court, having lunch at the Hanger Cafe, and visiting with Rose Davis at Red Oak II.

Another great day of recording interviews and gathering footage. We started this morning at Fred & Red's in Joplin, MO. David and Chris did great on camera, sharing the restaurant's 100 year history, and how they love to serve the Route 66 travelers. We then traveled just a few miles up the road to Webb City, MO. Scott gave us a nice tour of the Route 66 Movie Theater, located right on main street in downtown Webb City. What a great step back in time, an opportunity to watch first run movies in a historical building with the newest technology. After lunch we traveled to The Boots Court in Carthage, MO. Did you know that Boots is the third oldest motel on the entire Route 66? Jeremy shared the history of Boots, and gave us a nice tour of the motel. It's beautiful! After Boots it was time for an ice cream break at SuperTam on 66 in Carterville, MO. Besides delicious ice cream, SuperTam displays an unbelievable collection of DC Comics items, including so many Superman items. Chris shares interesting history of Carterville and he also details his wonderful collection. AND, congratulations to SuperTam for just receiving their Roadside Attraction signs. A celebration is to occur soon. We also interviewed Route 66 travelers on the route today. Larry Clark (no relation) from Florida visited with us in front of the Boots Court. Then we had a great conversation from a couple from California inside SuperTam. We will soon be posting our YouTube videos, at www.youtube.com/

Congratulations ! We were there this morning. What a great place, food and people.

Hey, everyone! Mark your calendars, we're celebrating our 100th birthday! In just one month, on Saturday, September 23rd, Fred & Red's Chili is throwing a birthday party for ourselves. There's going to be a vintage car show, drawings and giveaways, and a lot of cake and ice cream. Of course there will be lots of our famous chili and tamales, too!

Today we had a great day capturing video footage in Springfield, MO. We started at the Route 66 Car Museum where Guy Mace gave us a terrific narrated tour of his incredible classic car collection. We then enjoyed the History Museum on the Square where Sean gave us a guided tour of the large Route 66 exhibition. Following that, we interviewed John Sellars who shared the history of Route 66, and taught us how Springfield MO became the Birthplace of Route 66. We then traveled to Red's Giant Hamburg (sp correct) for a great lunch. While we were there, Josh explained how Red's Giant Hamburg in Springfield became the first drive-through restaurant. Yesterday we captured great video footage for "This is Route 66" YouTube channel while we were in Miami, Oklahoma. We started with several different interviews and a personalized tour at the Coleman Theatre. Thank you Danny for your time, participation and for doing such a great job. Then we went up main street and interviewed Eugene Waylan, the owner of the last Ku-Ku restaurant. He has owned the restaurant for the past 50 years, and he also shares the history of the restaurant chain. We also grabbed an interview on the sidewalk from a young couple from Italy who are currently traveling Route 66. Although our communication was a little challenged, (I only speak English, they speak Italian and a little English), the interview was fun and turned out ok. All of these videos will be posted soon.
