The South Effingham Elementary chorus under the direction of Benji Cates, performed one of their numbers in their upcoming holiday program for the school board at its regular meeting Dec. 4.
Luke Wimberly, 13, played Taps at Veteran's Park in Springfield, as part of "Taps Across America" at 3 p.m. Memorial Day. The bugle is a US regulation Army bugle from WWII his dad bought in an online auction. Luke is the son of Christian and Kathy Wimberly of Rincon and is a rising eighth-grader at Ebenezer Middle School. Luke is a Star Scout with Boy Scout Troop 665 in Rincon. Luke also wants to mention that his music teachers at EMS, Kenza Murray and David Arambulo, "are amazing".

Luke Wimberly, a rising 7th-grade student at Ebenezer Middle School, participated in "Taps Across America" at 3 p.m. May 29 at Veteran's Park in Springfield. He said he's been playing for about a year and added the music teachers at EMS -- Kenza Murray and David Arambulo -- "are amazing." Wimberly is a member of Boy Scout Troop 665 in Rincon.
