Sometimes the magic happens in the moment, and sometimes it happens in the edit.

This quick iPhone pic in the studio went from ok to interesting with just a few small tweaks.

More pictures from recent shoots at The Historic Shelton, organized by Wild Forrest Photography. This one features Kailey Galaviz and her husband. This was a fun shoot, and I was so impressed with how these lovely people kept smiling despite the bitter cold!

It's hard to beat being able to bring a smile to a child's face. We did a little project this week for a 10 year old girls soccer team - a highlight reel of their soccer season.

We got their logo animated for the opening and closing graphics to give it a big production feel. I understand that we made their days😎

For multiple reasons, we won't share the video here, but I will share the opening and closing graphics/animations we used.

I'll give a shoutout to Logo Animators who actually did the animation of the logos. We've worked with them on around a dozen animated logos so far and are very happy with their work.

The Snowflake Soiree, organized and hosted by Nichole Rosalie Events at the Uptown Event Center in Rexburg was less than a week ago. Everyone seemed to be smiling and laughing for 2 hours straight, so clearly the guests enjoyed the event.

Here is a sampling of the dozens of photos I took at the event.

Was able to squeeze in a quick practice run with the new drone yesterday.

This post will demonstrate how the same idea can be presented in completely different ways. We can help you find YOUR unique sound, look, or style.

As for these recordings - the first is an acoustic version of a hymn that I arranged and have performed publicly on several occasions. The recording is a single take, simply mimicking a live performance.

The second version is "electrified" and almost completely live and improvised. After briefly experimenting with the melody, I simply sat down and started recording parts. Other than having a basic melody to work with, the parts were indeed 100% improvised and all tracks except the main lead guitar were recorded on the first take. The main lead guitar was recorded twice and the two takes edited together.

The main rhythm part was recorded on a looper pedal, and the entire song was built over that loop.

The only "studio trick" in the track is the opening sound, which is simply the opening chord being played in reverse. (inspired by the looper but done in the recording software)

Saturday evening, I was thrilled to be able to provide photography support for the Snowflake Soiree, an event organized and hosted by Nichole Rosalie Events at the Uptown Event Center in Rexburg.

The event had an assortment of wonderful treats, classy music, dancing, fun, and lots of conversation and laughter. I look forward this week to going through the hundreds of photos I took and putting together a gallery for the attendees to enjoy!

Kicked off the weekend with a content shoot at The Historic Shelton organized and hosted by Destiny F Zierden of Wild Forrest Photography, featuring several models including Kailey Galaviz, pictured here. I'm excited to start going through the photos and doing some editing this week, and then I can share more pictures.

I must say - we were outside shooting in mid-20º weather for a little over an hour and I was really impressed with the models...despite the cold weather they kept smiling and looking fabulous. They are tough!

For me, this photo just screamed Black & White from before I even snapped the picture.

But here you can see a “vibrant natural” edit and an edit with greatly exaggerated light flare/leakage. How a photo is composed, shot, and edited can completely change the mood.

Some photographers have a signature style (or two). Some are very versatile.

It’s important for clients to make sure that their photographer is comfortable working in their preferred style.
