Five weeks ago I was invited to be part of an adventure which would involved first year cinema students, a core of four other actors and a professional faculty. The goal? Create four short films in as many weeks. I was in immediately.
**********
First off I’d would like to thank the students on the Red Team, Blue Team, Purple Team and Green Team. Thank you for taking such good care of me during what I know were stressful, busy days. Thank you also for the amazing gifts of your passion and talents. You inspired me. Just don’t ever forget these past four weeks: the teamwork, the comradely, the happy accidents…from first frame to last. Get some shades, folks. Your futures are bright. Just don't ever stop. Always focused. Always positive. Always forward.
To the faculty, some of whom I’ve had the distinct pleasure and honor to work with on productions over the years. Watching what you do so well and your interactions with the students was a clear reminder of why I love this business: the people. You all are amazing, wearing two or three hats every day as you teach, guide and inspire. It was my honor to share these last four weeks with you. Cheers.
The our directors, Chelsea and Bill. Thank you for your guidance and patience as I explored and dissected these four very different characters. You led. You cheered on. You supported. You stepped back when needed but your presence was always there and that’s what every actor wants…needs. I wish you both the very best.
To my fellow players: B R A V O!
To: Anne and Carly: Thank you so very much for allowing me to be part of such an amazing, wild ride. Carly, thank you especially for taking such good care of us every day.
I’m so grateful to have been a small part of the last four weeks. To work with these dreamers, these future storytellers and filmmakers, has been a truly rewarding experience.
I always tell young actors if you can’t learn something new every time you are on set, you are not listening or watching. You are not opening yourself to the experience or the energy surrounding you. These last four weeks were an opportunity to further explore my craft and myself as an artist. I got to work with really good people. I learned something about myself and about my craft. Hopefully, I was able to share some of my own experiences and wisdom.
Mostly, I got to do what I love to do.
I’m a lucky guy.
