Older Belmont Couple Victims Of Double Fatal Crash In Boston
An older couple from Belmont were the victims of a recent fatal crash in Boston, authorities said.

The 85-year-old man and 83-year-old woman died from the crash that occurred on Soldiers Field Road in Boston around 7:15 p.m. on Monday, June 27, Massachusetts State Police said.

Initial investigation revealed the 85-year-old man from Belmont was leaving a business in the area of 1800 Soldiers Field Road when he was struck by another vehicle, police said.
The three people in the other vehicle were taken to local hospitals with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries, according to police. No other vehicles were involved.

The incident shut down all lanes of Soldiers Field Road until around 9 p.m. as a result. The crash remains under investigation.

Except for the Islands, All of Mass. Now Considered Low Risk for COVID - NBC Boston
All of Massachusetts except for Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard are now considered low risk for COVID-19, according to the latest data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Dukes County is now the only county in the state listed in the medium risk category, with the rest of the state low risk. That's a dramatic swing from a month ago, when all but two counties in Massachusetts were considered high risk.
This doesn't come as a total surprise, especially considering the recent decrease in school cases, test positivity rate and COVID wastewater levels in recent weeks.

State health officials reported 1,700 new COVID-19 cases and six more deaths on Thursday. The state's seven-day average positivity was at 5.53%. Both metrics were about the same as they were a week ago.

But after increasing for months, the number of new cases in Massachusetts schools declined for the fifth straight week. The total of 1,704 cases was a decrease of over 50% from last Thursday's report, when a total of 4,216 cases were identified.

The news is good across the rest of New England as well, with not one county listed as high risk and only a handful of counties outside of Maine in the medium risk category.

At 2 p.m. today the State Police Barracks on Revere Beach began receiving multiple calls reporting a fire at a high-rise apartment building at 370 Ocean Ave., which runs behind Revere Beach Boulevard. Troopers Christopher Kane and Stephen Thomson, who are assigned to the Barracks, along with Trooper Joseph Diliegro from the MSP Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section and Trooper Xhuljo Hysa, who is assigned to the Logan Airport Barracks, arrived on scene and entered the burning building.

Trooper Thomson, along with Revere Police officers climbed to the 15th floor, above the fire, and began evacuating residents. Troopers Kane and Diliegro ascended to the 12th floor and began evacuating residents from floor 12 downward.

Trooper Hysa entered the building with other Revere officers. While ascending the stairs, he encountered an elderly woman who was helping her child in a wheelchair out of the building. Trooper Hysa and a Revere Police Lieutenant escorted the woman and her son safely down and out of the building.

Upon exiting the building, approximately 30 minutes into the incident, Troopers learned that an elderly man remained on the 6th floor. The man was on an oxygen tank and was unable to get out on his own. Troopers Thomson and Kane ran back into the building and climbed to the 6th floor, where they located the man. With help from Revere Firefighters, they were able to assist the gentleman from the building and get him to EMS personnel, who were waiting with an oxygen system to treat him.

All four Troopers sustained some degree of exposure to smoke and carbon monoxide. Troopers Kane and Thomson are being treated at CHA-Everett (Whidden Hospital).

Fires in high-rise buildings have the potential to become disastrous quickly. Revere Fire and mutual aid agencies did a superb job controlling and suppressing the fire. The decisive and brave response of members of all three agencies — Revere Fire, Revere Police, and the Massachusetts State Police — and Cataldo Ambulance personnel no doubt prevented additional injuries and potential tragedies.

He added that while the cause of the fire is under investigation, they've received reports that people often smoke ci******es in the area.

Saturday, June 25th, from 1pm to 8pm at the Whelan Elementary School (107 Newhall St, Revere, MA)
The event will highlight the culture and history of the city’s Moroccan community, currently estimated to be at least 10% of the city’s population. The event is free and open to the public.
This celebration of Moroccan culture will feature Moroccan food, live music, henna tattoo art, and local Moroccan vendors. Special guests include Mayor Brian Arrigo, Revere city officials, and a number of Moroccan officials and celebrities.
