We mourn the loss of a faithful and faith-filled community leader, Bill Hollerman. From our inception over 40 years ago, Bill dedicated countless hours to the Good Samaritan Food Pantry of Rensselaer, helping the neediest in Jasper County struggling with food insecurity. We are forever grateful to you, Bill, and know we have an angel first class forever guarding and guiding our efforts.
When Phil Luers saw that an option for Bill's memorials was the GSFP he shipped us a huge supply of paper grocery bags knowing this was the type of gesture a practical man like Bill would appreciate. Bill's legacy will live on while we serve with "Bags from Bill" and some of the most important life lessons he taught us. As the Jasper Newton Foundation reminds us:

🚧 Traffic Tip Tuesday 🚧
There is a rumor/myth going around that traffic enforcement somehow funds our operations. We're not sure where or how this started, but we wanted to address it for everyone.
IC 33-37-5-8 addresses the continuing education program fee of $4.00. In each action in which a defendant is found to have committed a crime, violated a statute defining an infraction, or violated an ordinance the clerk shall collect a law enforcement continuing education program fee of $4.00.
No matter how much time or how many resources we have in to a case we receive $4.00. If you receive and pay $140 citation we receive only $4.00. If we are called to and spend dozens of hours investigating a felony we still only receive $4.00 IF the suspect is convicted. We post almost every Tuesday to educate on traffic code to keep you from getting a citation, which keeps us from getting our $4.00.
Our current average is about $228/month in ticket revenue. That means about 1.9 citations per day and $7.60 "revenue" per day. In other words, our citation money brings in enough to pay for a little more than 2 gallons of gas.
If you are speeding in a school zone we are not writing you a ticket to make money, we want you to slow down.
