And you and I and everything we’ve ever touched is made from the dead grandmas of our neighboring stars and galaxies. You are made of stardust—you are a miracle of creation.

We’ve taken some additional time to put our publication together. The Universe is in motion and things are shifting. Our articles, the main pieces of this quarter, discuss local institutional response to the global uncovering of systemic racism and the Space Whale sculpture and how our artist community thrives with a foundation of such bold and courageous public art. We feel we cannot tell these stories yet, but we will very soon. Keep writing them, let us be the change we wish to see in our world.

D: daleth. Delta. Dubculture.

Another section of our magazine is Reno-Tahoe Dubculture, hosted by Diep Vasser, a local DJ duo formed in Squaw Valley in 2018. We dive into our favorite dub-techno tracks and build from there! Your hosts are the editor-in-chief of this here quarterly publication (Axel Black), and Gavin, a mysterious German man with an American accent. There’s a ton happening in our lives, and we’re excited to have an outlet for our techno brains to dance it out. We are having a blast putting a mix and a podcast together for you all, waka waka!

C: gaml. gim. gimel. Gamma. Culture.

C is for culture, or cultura in Latin which is a verb meaning to grow, nurture; as in cultivate the land. (modern) 1. (noun): the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively. 2. (noun): the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or other social group. 3. (verb): maintain (tissue cells, bacteria, etc.) in conditions suitable for growth.

We are cultivating the conditions for collective culture and hope with a little love, sunshine, and water, we can grow our creative community toward a collective conscious future and retake our destinies.

B is for ‘bub’ (n) an insolent term of address for buddy.

Used in a sentence: “Hey bub, don’t touch me.”

here. Personally, my favorite part of the pandemic is no physical contact without consent for 5 months and counting (i.e. not having to deal with bubs).
