When the opportunity came to acquire a station in Redding, George and Millie Cooper jumped at the chance! "We love the market and the people", according to Cooper, "and will do everything we can to serve it well!"

Channel 26 came on the air late in October of 1997, was licensed by

the FCC January 14, 1998 and became an affiliate of the America One Network a week later. George and his wife Millie have long felt the need for more "family friendly" programming in northern California. As a result, the station affiliated with FamilyNet July 1, 2000. After several programming and management changes at FamilyNet, it was clear a new affiliate was needed for the stablity and future growth of KGEC TV. On January 04, 2010 KGEC affiliated with Retro TV to bring our viewers great retro programming while continuing our family friendly programming. March of 2011 KGEC was granted its digital license on channel 26 for four virtual channels. They can be viewed over the air as 26.1, 26.2, 26.3, and 26.4. We have the unique privilege of airing some of NASA TV on 26.4. KGEC TV reaches over 100,000 households over the air and 30,000 viewers on Charter Cable channel 94. As of March 21, 2021, KGEC officially became an affiliate of theDove TV, based out of Medford, Oregon! Plans for the station's future are coming into place and we at KGEC could not be more excited...

In February 2022, KGEC officially was purchased by theDove Media, Inc., owners of theDove! Congratulations, Perry, and thank you, Millie, for all the wonderful years of services for KGEC! KGEC TV reaches over 100,000 households over the air and 30,000 viewers on Charter Cable channel 94. • Effective: Television advertising has been proven to be more effective than radio or print. Radio is primarily heard in the background; television is viewed intentionally. KGEC TV is less saturated with commercials than other television stations or radio. Fewer ads to compete with. Your message will stand out. Get more bang for your buck. • Proven: KGEC TV has received well over 1,000 calls, emails, and letters from satisfied viewers. Some of our advertisers have capitalized on this and have been with us continuously for nearly a decade. Advertising with KGEC TV works! • Affordable: For as little as $5 you can reach over 100,000 television households, plus an additional 30,000 Charter Communications cable subscribers in the greater Redding area.
