Happy Birthday to the brilliant thinker and writer James Baldwin. He is the through line for all of the work that I do. His words have shaped me and guided my work, since I was introduced to “Go Tell It On The Mountain” in high school and I haven’t been the same since. “This American Negro” came from one of his speeches. My documentary “To the Mountain” is also inspired by him.

We're extremely happy to see more Black people on City Council. We hope that this will expand diversity of thought and those that can be speak on our issues with an added level of care.
