Member Spotlight: Mary Pfligler
We welcomed Mary Pfligler two months ago as a new member to PBWNM. Visit her at her beautiful shop in Raton, Honeysuckle Station!
Mary began her professional occupation in Florida and supported the Kroger Corp as their Regional Deli-Bakery Merchandiser. After nearly 10 years she moved to Michigan with her family. There Mary began a 30-year career with Real Estate Investment Trusts in their Multi-Housing divisions. In 1996 she moved to Arizona and went to work for AIMCO in Phoenix. During her tenure she developed their Internal Auditing Department before retiring in 2014. As with other women in our town she is retired but professes the need to be productive. With that in mind Mary opened Honeysuckle Station on Cook Ave this past December. She looks forward to serving Raton for many years.

Introducing PBW Candidate for Business Woman of the Year and Young Professional Nicolina Villani-Martinez.
Greetings, My name is Nicolina Villani-Martinez. In 2016, I made a decision to move to and serve a smaller community, coming from Denver, Colorado. The Northern New Mexico Community captured my heart and I have been here since. The Raton Police Department offered me the opportunity to pursue my passion for a career in law enforcement while I continued to serve in the Air Force Reserve as a Technical Sergeant at the 302d Security Forces Unit at Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado which I have done for the last 10 years.

So, how did I end up in Raton do you ask? After graduating from the University of Colorado with a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and a minor in both Psychology and Sociology, I decided to further my law enforcement career, by serving as a city police officer. Quickly, I fell in love with the community of Raton, as it had the perfect combination of allowing me to continue my public service as an officer and contributing as a volunteer to a smaller community.

Volunteering is also one of my largest passions. I joined the Raton Police Officer’s Association and was nominated as the President of the board. The RPOA is a non-profit organization in Raton and its goal is to give back to the community. The RPOA fundraises to hold events such as Shop with a Cop, Santa in the Park, Safe Trick or Treat, Trunk or Treat, baseball/golf tournaments, the Parade of Lights, the beautification of the Dog Park, Relay for Life, as examples. I’m also a registered adult with the Colfax County Young Marines. I have volunteered 250+ hours with the Young Marines over the past few years. One of my favorite youth activities is teaching Drug Demand Reduction, which is a quarterly 4 hour class, where I provide presentations to the youth in efforts aimed at educating and reducing the desire for illegal and illicit drugs. In addition, I have participate in various events including weekly drill, bake sales, swimming lessons, boot camps, presenting the colors for graduations, Run for the Wall and placing Memorial Day flags and the annual camping trip. I also assist in other various youth organizations such as PTO events, Elks basketball and little league baseball.

Introducing Young Professional Candidate Timothy McCoy!

Hello, I am Timothy W. McCoy, I’m 26 years-old from the beautiful town of Raton, New Mexico. I am currently the Paint and Sip artist and local Barista at Enchanted Grounds Espresso Bar.

As a young adult I always found a passion in the Arts. Throughout Middle and High School I began developing my talents by exploring all art mediums. With the help and guidance of my teachers, Carol Crary and Kathy Vertovec; my love of art began.

Within the past 7 years I have worked tremendously on a career in the Fine Arts.
Graduating from Eastern New Mexico University with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts; I began as the ENMU Student Activities Graphic Artist. Shortly after college I moved to Orlando Florida to work for The Walt Disney World Company as a Photographer. I then acquired the ambition in teaching. I applied my art abilities, social skills, and customer service to start an Art Instructor role at Painting with a Twist in Orlando, Florida.
Currently now I am teaching art classes at Enchanted Grounds to the Raton community. I am inspired to bring the beauty of art to individuals and to unite the community through my classes.

Through these past few years in the beginning stages of my career I have applied integrity, motivation, and compassion with each goal I set. These qualities have brought forth all of my humble accomplishments yet thus far. Adding personality and character through all I do is what makes my career so colorful.
