Our Arkham Bazaar Fhtagn Friday sale is almost over! Get in on the action and save some dough with coupon code FTGN2024 (use during checkout before Midnight tonight, Fri Dec 6). Among our many new products is this sweet Miskatonic window sticker.

Our brand new MU window sticker! I picked ‘em up today, and they look great (except for how I didn’t get it straight… you can’t tell, right?). Not too big, not too small, this looks just right. You can get them now on Arkham Bazaar, and if you get it today (before Midnight, Fri Dec 6), you can use the coupon code FTGN2024 to get 20 percent off this and any products in the store.

Need a little levity? It's the moment no one has been waiting for, and no one asked for! The super cut of our streaming edition block intros. It helps - a lot - if you know Dark Shadows, the gothic soap opera from the 1960s. (Psst... be sure to stick around for the post-credit scenes)

A supercut of all of the Dark Shadows-inspired introductions from the streaming edition of the 2024 H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival (visit our web site for mor...

It is with much sadness that we report the bad news that Scott Connors, frequent festival attendee and contributor, has passed on. Besides being one of the preeminent scholars on the work and life of Clark Ashton Smith, as well as H. P. Lovecraft, he was a truly sweet man, who always had time for us. We truly hoped that the news we heard a few days ago was untrue, so we hesitated to report it until we could say for certain, but we have now corroborated with enough sources that we’re confident it is true. He lived a quiet life, mostly alone, except for the community he had in CAS and Lovecraft fandom.

We wish the photos we had of him were more flattering, but these pictures represent a really special moment at the 20th annual H. P. Lovecraft Film Festival in 2015, when we were honored to bring him on stage to award him for his scholarship. He was NOT expecting it, and was taken quite by surprise, though he more than earned not just the award, but our affection.

We had many nice times with him over the years, including a memorable dessert at Necronomicon, and just a couple of years ago, despite our own political differences, he stood up for us when a far right YouTuber attempted to slander the festival. While we haven’t seen Scott in person since the pandemic, we will miss his presence in our family. Take care, Scott. We’ll meet you again one day somewhere beyond the door to Saturn.

In Things Will Be Different, bank robber siblings Joe and Sidney hole up in a house that has a paradoxical time loop. What could possibly go wrong?

Festival regular Joseph Scrimshaw (The Nightmare Adorable) is making a new feature film - Dead Media. If you're a fan of his work, and like horror comedies with creepy gothic horror vibes, consider supporting his work!

Dead Media has a fiscal sponsorship with the great organization, Film North. They can take one-time, tax deductible (in the US) donations of any amount. It's basically a Kickstarter where the rewards are A) a tax deduction and B) helping us make the film!

Super short synopsis: Dead Media is a creepy gothic horror film about a young woman struggling to move forward, her uncle who's trapped in the past, and a cursed DVD of a movie that bombed in 1999.

and you can read more about the project on the Film North website: https://filmnorth.org/fiscally-sponsored-projects/dead-media/

Cosmic Horror meets found footage in the parasomnia-infused Dream Eater. Documentarian Mallory and her boyfriend Alex retreat to a snowy cabin, celebrating Alex's 30th birthday. There, they hope to relax and get relief from Alex's violent sleepwalking episodes. Unfortunately, fate would have it that...

Just a friendly Cthulhu reminder: if you have a streaming pass, you now have a little less than 24 hours to start watching any screening (after you hit play, you have 48 hours to finish each screening). Get to watching!

And with our final Q&A, that’s a wrap on the 2024 HPLFF streaming edition! But, there are still over 48 hours to watch everything, so if you haven’t, get your streaming pass and get watching!

The Dæmon was a perfect vessel to be unleashed at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival. The debut feature from Devino and Yohe taps into all of the key tropes of Cosmic Horror: coping with inner demons, battling psychoses and grief, dreams from the underworld, and elder gods rising from the deep. Here’s a nice little travelog of the HPLFF. If you couldn’t travel to be here, there’s still one more chance to see some amazing independent Lovecraftian films (and more), Oct 18-22nd at https://hplfilmfestival.eventive.org

For this week's post, I'm sharing the travel log of my very first visit to the H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival and CthulhuCon in Portland, OR! I had a fantastic time this past weekend getting to see new releases adapted from or inspired by the works of Lovecraft himself!
