Quite the downtrend on all model suites today. From 920s mb Cat 5 to barely a tropical storm crashing into Honduras on the GFS.

Maybe it’s time to close the book on the 2024 hurricane season. Winter is around the corner after all. ❄️

Florida just remember we might have to deal with Hurricanes all the way through November SOMETIMES but it still beats being buried in snow for an entire winter every year!

Regarding the deadly and destructive tornado that destroyed some areas in Saint Lucie County including Spanish Lakes and Portofino and other areas of Lakewood Park in Fort Pierce. This is from National Weather Service: The first tornado confirmed on the Treasure Coast — of what will be many tornadoes here alone from Hurricane Milton — was rated an EF3 tornado with peak winds up to 155 mph. The outbreak of tornadoes on Wednesday was unprecedented on the Treasure Coast, said Will Ulrich, the warning coordination meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Melbourne. It was the largest outbreak of tornadoes his office has worked in its 35 years. “This was a historic tornado outbreak in the Treasure Coast community,” Ulrich told TCPalm. Weather officials on Friday focused on assessing the area of the Spanish Lakes Country Club Village community first because of at least six fatalities that happened there, he said. They surveyed damage and found the tornado stayed on the ground for at least 13 miles, he said. It started south of Midway Road, hit the new warehouse on Orange Avenue near Rock Road and exited in Indian River County. That’s “highly unusual” and “very rare” for a tornado to stay on the ground that long in Florida and from a tropical cyclone event, Ulrich said. "It was a long-track tornado that had a large swath of EF2 damage, as well as periodic EF3 damage," Ulrich said. EF2 damage specifically was found in the Spanish Lakes subdivision, he said, and EF3 damage to warehouses was found in the area of Orange Avenue and Rock Road. According to the Enhanced Fujita Scale, EF2 winds are between 110 and 135 mph; EF3 winds are between 136 and 165 mph. Along its path, the tornado damaged structures in the Creekside subdivision on Okeechobee Road, according to the NWS preliminary report. Many mobile and manufactured homes within the nearby Sunnier Palms Nudist Park and Campground suffered major damage or were destroyed. It continued

Rain coming

Some moderate to heavy rain working its way up from the south for south Florida today and tomorrow

So today I was able I to catch this .. it was both terrifying and mesmerizing at the same time. The phone recording does not do enough justice because it felt like I was way closer than the phone seems to be and the sound was absolutely incredible. You could hear the power. i hid inside a car wash as it approached because I had no idea the angle it was moving on and the wind was getting very strong. I have never in my life seen a tornado this big in person. it looked like something in the Midwest. Lakewood Park and the surrounding area was his so hard today. Will never forget it. People lost their lives as well unfortunately.

This was that huge wedge tornado going through Lakewood Park after coming down Kings Highway and a little baby tornado behind it.

Never ever did I think I would ever witness a tornado this size with my own eyes in person in Florida. Forever to remember how close I was taking shelter in that car wash.

That wind is cranking out there…. south Florida is on the dry side of core. that’s OK though because we had plenty of rain from the feeder bands today and more tornadoes, then we could ever want.
