if you were wanting to show your stuff on TV when it comes to cooking, I always suggest you bring two types of the same dish !
🍴 Bring one close to camera ready, in case you need a TV magic moment at the end! Live TV Time can be very unpredictable and as much as the team will try to prepare you ahead of time, breaking news could always happen and you want to get to show off your final product!
🍴 Bring a second dish that is disassembled, this way you can put the dish together on air, offer some cooking tips, and (if the studio has a cooktop available) throw some things in a pan to fire up some action! I also recommend bringing everything you need to cook - you’re going to a new station, not Williams Sonoma … 😉

I’m a BIG fan of rental clothing services especially for TV hosts and anchors because it lends a ton of variety to your wardrobe, there’s no laundry, and gives you that “add to cart” fix without adding to the credit card bill 😂
BUT sometimes you’re shopping vision isn’t always a reality, today I put on the dress that I ordered and it just wasn’t doing me any favors. @theborrowedbabes taught me we “never waste a rental” so I styled the piece so I could get a wear on air that complimented my shape more.

PAYING FOR IT - pay for play or advertorial TV often gets a bad rap, but as someone who came from a advertorial background, having more control over you’re message and targeted exposure or conversations can really help businesses that are trying to expand.
Each news station is different, but many stations like ours have certain rules about what services can actually be earned content VS advertorial content.
I get that free is free (believe me I like free) BUT if you are trying to get your business name out there, if you are trying to increase SEO and brand visibility (especially in a local market) OR you want more control over your message on TV - advertorial content can be a great option! 🎬

Today I had a guest that let me know there are a few topics we couldn’t touch on today, purely from a safety standpoint, as he was a member of the military.
I thought it would be a great time to bring up how you can gracefully and tactfully let an interviewer know that you’re not able or uncomfortable with answering a question on TV or in any press interview 🫶🎤

One of the top challenges we have with Booking Guest is honestly… Just getting people to read.
-Read where to apply for the show
-Read the intake form so we can be prepared for their interview
-Read the directions, address, or really any essential information that we always provide for guests…
-Read… wait for it… the name of the show or even station 🤯
There is absolutely NO harm in asking for clarification, or asking questions, because OF COURSE live interviews are certainly a challenging experience. However, always take the time to read any information that you’re given by the production team before hand, and we’ll think you’re a bright shining star. 🌟
