Blaze is best known in the mid-west hip hop scene, and for being one of the only
unsigned Detroit hood star that Performed at the age of 9 in front of 3,000 people at hart plaza in downtown Detroit. Born in Detroit,MI, he released his first single (I got work) in 2006, Blaze”s single reached the hands of T-Dan
records, founder of West coast rides, who originally was on the verge of signing him t
o his label. Five months later,
he was discovered by Corner boy music who listened to the single and signed him to their Corner boy label in 2007. He rose to fame in 2008 with the success of his debut single "POP MY HEAT" (2008) and "KING KONG KUSH"
(2008). The Recording Industry Association certified his single "POP MY HEAT" gold in March 2008 and it has sold
over 2 million copies worldwide over the next two years. A rising artist in the late 2000s, Blaze is considered to be a driving force in bringing back the Mid-West hip hop
scene into the mainstream and competing with many of his Mid-west counterparts. Due to his disputes with Corner
boy music, Blaze left and signed with T-dan records, another label under Universal Music Group south division, to
terminate his contractual obligations with Corner boy music in the summer of 2009. Blaze's second single “KING
KONG KUSH” was released on June 2, 2008 and it became his second straight single to debut at No. 22 on US
Billboard 200. Blaze was nominated with a total of two nominations, including Green lantern Award for Best
underground song and green lantern Award for Best underground Performance by a Duo or Group for the smash
single "I GOT WORK". The Detroit Times named Blaze best hip-hop artist of 2009. It was confirmed on September 2011, that blaze began working on a new single title, “PAPER OR PLASTIC”. DEC
26, 2011 Blaze released ”PAPER OR PLASTIC” and song titled "40 BARS" a “PAID IN FULL” tribute, the day after it
was re-aired on bet , Blaze posted a picture on his Twitter of himself, Ghost face killa in the studio working together,
The picture was taken a day earlier and it marked the first time Blaze had worked with A big named artist for some
years since the beef with his former record label, It's funny how things come Full Circle". Later he confirmed that he
is was working again but under a new label, On Oct 21, 2013, Wright Records/Sony announced that Blaze is
working with California sound studio and Sony records to put together a new deal on the table for blaze. On that
note 2014 is looking bright in the eyez of blaze. Finally signed to Wright records/Sony records on October 23, 2013
blaze has one single that has been released through Sony/the orchard title “I'M SO DOPE BOY FRESH” and New
single to be released on 2-14-14 under Wright records/sony records.....
Early career (2004–06)
While in the hospital from gunshot wounds he incurred in late 2005, Blaze told his Street runner to go out and buy
all of the Mid-west hip-hop albums. Over the course of two years, he studied all of the mid-west influential rap
albums and developed a strategy to make himself into a star. With the help of his Mary jane, they founded a style
along with his first rap group P-Fam. His stage name was coined by his homie ric steel ; he said that he was hotter
than anybody at anything. Blaze first gained prominence when he attended a hip hop summit hosted by MC
BREED. After he had fully recovered, Blaze and P-Fam made a mixtape together. He released his first single “I
GOT WORK” in 2006, and landed a record deal with the independent label Corner boy music owned by Big L.
