Did you know a new episode released today?

In this episode our host shares about her recent mental health wins and looks back on 2023, her most recent severe episode of depression, and why going through it was a win in itself.

I have to take a moment to give a shout out to my son!

He has been my personal photographer this last year, providing me with new headshots in 2023 (images used on the website) and conducting a special 40th birthday photoshoot with me (pics used on the website).

In addition to helping me look good in my pictures, he has helped me navigate new technology, provided suggestions for software I should be using, and given me feedback on my online aesthetic.

All of this in addition to the amazing support he has provided for any of my endeavors, celebrating my artistic accomplishments alongside me.

Thank you for all your help! (Sadie is our dog but he runs her account 😊)

In addition to working through the trauma itself, it is important to remember that we are also working through these very normal reactions to the trauma. Remember to meet yourself with compassion and grace. ❤️

Having done a lot of healing work, I am so fortunate that I've been able to reframe these feelings around my trauma. In episode 4, I will talk more about what healing has looked like for me.

Next week, episode 3, I am going to cover why my severe depressive episode in 2023 wasn't emotional backsliding. Stay tuned! Much more to come from Trauma Bonded!

Have you seen? A new podcast episode is out now!

In today's episode, I share pivotal traumatic events in my trauma timeline. Episodes 1 and 2 together provide an understanding of my CPTSD diagnosis. It is my hope that these episodes are reminding listeners to be bold in our vulnerability and to share our stories without shame.

Big win for me this weekend! Traveled out of town with the hubby for an early birthday celebration. Traveling hasn't always been easy for me; preparing to leave, moving about crowds, and leaving hotels has been known to provoke anxiety in me.

I mentioned in last week's episode how control becomes a coping mechanism for me as I navigated survival mode. Controlling my environment brought false security in a fear filled, anxiety ridden mind.

In the past, I would pack for a trip at least 2 weeks in advance and pack for every possible event/situation (considering weather, basic first aid, more complex first aid, and items my travel mates may need at some point - or likely never). During the duration of the trip being in crowds, stuffy places, tight spaces, loud sounds, and bright lights would overwhelm me to the point of panic. When I would be packing up to leave, I would need to sweep the room (often multiple times) to ensure nothing had been left behind. From the beginning of the trip on through a few days after my return, I would battle an elevated heart rate as my adrenaline would be running high (my body in a flight/fight response). Once the adrenaline settled, I would then get hit with a major wave of fatigue.

That said, this weekend I didn't need to control! I packed the day of. I even forgot a few essentials, and you know what?! I chuckled at myself when I realized, but I didn't ruminate over it! While in a tight space, shoulder-to-shoulder venue, I didn't panic. Instead, I observed myself commanding my space with confidence. No panic! Lastly, when I was leaving the hotel, I didn't feel the need to check every outlet, drawer, and cabinet. No adrenaline! I still noticed I was extra tired, but it was a busy weekend! Pretty sure my introvert batteries needed to be charged.

For any trauma survivors looking for hope, I hope this post is evidence that change is possible. For me this is more evidence of neuroplasticity and my mental health superpowers!

I've had such a good response from those who have had a chance to listen to this week's episode. Thank you for spending that time with me. 🥰
Next week, we dive into my trauma timeline. Another episode of bold vulnerability. As you'll hear me say, we have to tell our stories. We have to be bold. This is how we end the stigma.
Pictured here are my pieces from "The Universe of The Inner Child." This is who I am showing up for. I am showing up for every version of myself who didn't think she had a voice. I speak even louder for her.

New episode out now!

*Content Warning* Episode mentions eating disorders, childhood abuse, and self-harm.

This is the first episode in the "My Story" series. Listen to this episode to learn more about our host, her specific diagnoses, and the earlier behaviors that show evidence of her mental health conditions.

(Housekeeping note - As a Communications Major, the amount of filler words used in this episode is maddening. I will try to work on this!)
