Maybe the idea of being happy seems too far away. The good news is that this fear is all in your head! There are some simple changes you can make to your thinking and to your environment that can start creating the happiness chemicals in your brain naturally.

For example:

- Deciding on a sense of purpose. You don't have to be given a purpose by anyone else but yourself. Your purpose is about you and your personal passion.

- Know what you value and hold on to that. Know why you value what you do. The more you know the what and why, the more you can put your foot down when your boundaries are being crossed.

- Imagine the kind of person you want to be every day. Think about what the next logical step is to take to becoming that person. What is keeping you from being that person today?

- Surround yourself with people who make you laugh and smile. If you surround yourself with people who judge you and who are unhappy with their own lives, then you're just going to meet them at their energy.

- Don't spend time looking at what others are doing. Others will make their own changes and their own mistakes. You don't have to be responsible for their decisions or actions. Every adult is their own person and must learn to work through their own problems.

- Be willing to change things in your life. If your job makes you unhappy, look for something else. If a person is holding you back and judging you, let them know how you feel or cut them off if they don't care about your feelings or desires. It’s not up to you to live a life for someone else’s comfort.

- Recognize the little blessings in life and take time to appreciate them. The more you can see the little joys, the more you'll allow in the bigger ones. If your head is down all the time or looking for negative things, then you're bound to miss the positive opportunities you can only see when you keep your chin up.

- Bask in sunlight. Let the sun in! Natural light releases the happy hormones in all of us. If you're living your life in a dark room with curtains always shut, positivity is harder to reach. So, wake up and let the sun in first thing in the morning!

☀️🌿🌙 I want to open the doors to what I hope will be my new internet "home" starting 2025.

"The Oake Raven"

It's a blog where I am moving information, as FB has been giving me grief over the last month, not allowing me to really use the platform to the best of my ability. I'm not leaving FB, but I am trying to get my more "worthy" things over there in case something happens to this account.

I came up with The Oake Raven because "Oake" is my pen name for my novels--which is a very important part of who I am--and "Raven" of course as a nod to Runes and Ravens. I want the blog to be both personal and professional...something where I can share more of my thoughts, my experiences, and stories in long-form and with images to jog the mind. Maybe it'll stay a personal project...maybe it'll become something bigger. Either way, I don't want to lose everything here on FB so I need to move it somewhere safe. I hope you'll join me there every so often. 🐦‍⬛

☀️🌿🌙 I would like to point out that the New Year, New Me reading I just finished took me well over 7 hours to do. I don't want to say exact because you'll all think I'm crazy, but the amount of time, effort, energy, and focus that goes into these is why they're a tad pricier...and why I only do them for a few weeks out of the year.🫠

BUT, that being said, I am so, SO beyond thankful for all of who you have trusted me (some again and again and again) to read for you. I was recently talking to my daughter about how the scariest part of my life was to step into the unknown, to risk my security and my life as a whole, to try to make a life for myself filled with the things I have always loved and felt passionate about. I cut myself off from my entire support system and owned the very few things I have always been good at--connecting with people and "translating" what the world around us is trying to convey. Step-by-step, I used my gifts and made wonderful connections that moved me and my future along...and then Runes and Ravens was born.

The way all of the pieces fit into place as long as I kept pushing against the fear and uncertainty is enough for me to believe there is more out there than nothingness and death. I can only hope I can share at least a fraction of my experiences with you all so you can experience the magic for yourselves. It's what I strive for every day! 🌙🌿☀️
