The Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes Podcast Greetings, friends and colleagues. Spanning 36 episodes and 5 movies, producer Michael Cox created a Sherlockian experience like no other.

And welcome to The Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes Podcast page – devoted to revisiting and honoring the world’s greatest portrayal of the world’s greatest detective. From 1984 to 1994, Granada Television produced what is arguably the best (and most complete) depiction of legendary detective’s Adventures, Memoirs, Case-Books and many Returns. This podcast will examine that timeless series with a specific eye on Jeremy Brett in the role he was destined to immortalize.

Happy Birthday to legendary stuntman Jim Dowdall, who turns 77 today. Jim has had a mervellous career, spanning many extremely famous movies and TV shows, including our beloved Sherlock Holmes. He only appeared in one episode, The Greek Interpreter, but I think we can all agree it was a tremendous stunt to be involved in.

Happy 96th Birthday to the phenomenal actor that is Mr. Colin Jeavons. A Lestrade to rival any other and the man we see whenever Lestrade is mentioned in the stories. His moments on screen are etched in our memory. We only wish there was more of him. It is safe to say we are huge fans of this man and his outstanding work, not just in the Granada series but throughout his career.

Anyone who was at Brettcon, will know how much Colin is loved and appreciated, and how thrilled we all were to see him. He remains a fixture in many households and in all of our affection. Colin, we hope you have a fantastic day with your family, continued good health, and thank you for all you gave us.

French actor extraordinaire, Olivier Pierre, would be celebrating his 72nd birthday today. Alas, another actor taken from us too soon, Olivier's career was extensive, appearing in two other Sherlock Holmes series/films in his time. But it is as the Director of the Louvre we recall him on this page. Thank you Olivier, we raise a toast to you.

6 years ago since we had this honour! Hard to quite believe it was that long ago, it seems like yesterday. What a memory. In many ways this interview helped the podcast become what it is today and was the start of a lot of things, a lot of things that happened last year for example. We were close to getting Stephen to join us at Brettcon , but work got in the way. We're still eternally thankful to Stephen for sparing his time to talk to us, when he really didn't have to. This changed so many things for us and our show.

Some bonus "behind the scenes" photos for you.

Happy Birthday today to the late Howard Baker, who we all know as the director of the fantastic The Empty House episode. He also directed an incredible 124 episodes of Coronation Street. Another crew member no longer with us, we raise a glass to his memory tonight.

Continuing our look back on our previous Podcasts, brings us to Episode 7 where we take a look at The Blue Carbuncle, an episode close to our heart. We cover quite a bit of ground in this one as can be seen from the Podcast notes:

"In the final episode of season one, Holmes and Watson find themselves in possession of the mysterious gem, The Blue Carbuncle. We also examine the careers of composer Patrick Gowers and director David Carson. And Gus & Luke discuss hats, goose crops, and the unique properties of carbuncles. Plus, listener emails!"

Here is the link to the show, which can also be found on all Podcast platforms:

Today, we remember the actress Caroline John, on her birthday. Caroline played Mrs Carnac in The Dying Detective, and was the wife of fellow Holmes cast member, and friend of the show, Geoffrey Beevers. Alas, no longer with us, we remember her today and her wonderful career which brought so many, so much joy and entertainment.

Today's birthday is Daniel Massey aka J. Neil Gibson from The Problem At Thor Bridge. A wonderful actor and former Brother-In-Law of Jeremy's, having been the Brother of his first wife Anna Massey. Daniel left us far too soon but it is only right we continue to celebrate his life and career, and acknowledge his superb performance in his episode.
