The Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes Podcast Greetings, friends and colleagues. Spanning 36 episodes and 5 movies, producer Michael Cox created a Sherlockian experience like no other.

And welcome to The Jeremy Brett Sherlock Holmes Podcast page – devoted to revisiting and honoring the world’s greatest portrayal of the world’s greatest detective. From 1984 to 1994, Granada Television produced what is arguably the best (and most complete) depiction of legendary detective’s Adventures, Memoirs, Case-Books and many Returns. This podcast will examine that timeless series with a specific eye on Jeremy Brett in the role he was destined to immortalize.

Today's Birthday Celebrations!

Roy Marsden, John Stockton in The Last Vampyre, turns 84 today. An enigmatic, versatile actor, who now directs a lot of theatre productions, brought a malevolence and menace to the role of Stockton in the penultimate feature length production. We would like to wish him a very Happy Birthday!

A big Happy 74th Birthday to David Rodigan, who played Inspector Forbes in The Naval Treaty. A feisty, impetuous Inspector, before being put in his place (as always) by Holmes, he was a wonderful antagonistic member of Scotland Yard for Holmes to barb with. We hope he has a wonderful day!

This month we take a look back at our 3rd episode, covering the The Naval Treaty. Another short one at about 80 minutes, but nonetheless we cover a lot from this interesting episode and is a great listen. There's even a very early talk about the stage play, The Secret of Sherlock Holmes, which we covered in more detail recently. Here is the episode description:

In the third episode of season one, Holmes and Watson investigate the theft of The Naval Treaty. Gus and Luke examine brain-fevers, shadow-boxing, and alternate theories to the solution of this classic entry to the Granada series.

Today's Birthday Celebrations!

The beautiful Fiona Gillies turns 59 today. She played Beryl Stapleton in The Hound of the Baskervilles. This was Fiona's first on screen credit, according to IMDB, and she would have been just 22 at the time it aired. What an introduction to the acting world, and to be surrounded with so many luminaries with endless amounts of experience and stories to learn from!

We all wish Fiona a very Happy Birthday!

This month's merchandise highlight is our "I Am A Bretton" t-shirt. This might be out personal favourite t-shirt we sell....though that does change. What better way to show your love of the TV show and Jeremy by displaying it on a t-shirt. The shirt comes in a variety of colours and sizes as with all we have to offer.

Sales benefit the podcast and is designed by our very own, Luke Holwerda, though there is no branding of the Podcast on there, as we don't really like that.

Today's Birthday Celebrations - there are 4 amazing contributors who turn a year older today.

- Norman Jones, The Crooked Man, would have turned 93 today. Norman was a renowned TV and Film actor with many credits. His transformation into the deformed Henry Wood, becoming unrecognisable beneath all the make-up, costume and performance is outstanding, and one of our favourites.

- Michael Culver, Reginald Musgrave of The Musgrave Ritual, should have been celebrating his 87th Birthday today, but alas he passed away a couple of years ago. A wonderful actor that appeared across stage and screen, and you have no doubt seen him in many things. But as Sir Reginald, we remember him so very fondly and thank him for his contribution to our beloved series.

- Helen Ryan also turns 87 today. She played the Princess of Wales in The Mazarin Stone and Mrs MacFarlane in The Norwood Builder. One of the few performers to have appeared twice in the series in separate roles. She was so good the first time, they asked her back again, and we couldn't be more thankful as we love her in both roles.

- Simon Williams, the eponymous Eligible Bachelor, celebrates his 79th birthday today. Handsome and debonair himself, Simon brought those qualities to the role of Lord Robert St. Simon as well as much more. As one of Britain's most revered actors, we are so glad Simon was cast in the role and enjoy his performance tremendously.

So join us again as we raise a glass (or 4) to these exceptional actors, thank them for their work and wish them a very Happy Birthday.

4 Birthdays today!

- Mary Ellis, who played Mary Maberley in The Three Gables and Lady Florence in The Eligible Bachelor, would have turned 128 today! She was born in New York, in 1897 and lived to be 105. She was an incredible 93 when The Three Gables was broadcast, which makes her performance all the more amazing.

- Roy Holder, Shinwell Johnson in The Illustrious Client, would have turned 79 today! A lovely man, who alas passed away a few years ago, has been in just about everything you can think of when it comes to long running UK dramas. We're, of course, mostly very fond of his performance as Shinwell Johnson, and very much looking forward to covering that excellent episode.

- Michael Bertenshaw, a recognisable face among UK TV viewers, turns 80. He played Aveling in The Priory School, one of the best episodes, who was a teacher at the school. A very memorable face, in one of the best episodes.

- Ishaw Bux, on would would have been his 108th birthday, is remembered here for his brief role in The Sign of Four as Lal Chowder, servant of Thaddeus Sholto.

So I hope you join us in raising a glass to these four wonderful actors who have played a part in bringing this series we all so love to the screen.

Today we remember the beautiful Angela Browne, on what would have been her 87th birthday. We're huge fan of Angela, as not only is brilliant as Mrs Toller in the Copper Beeches, but we're also huge The Prisoner fans, in which she played a very memorable role. We're always overjoyed to see her. Happy Birthday Angela, thank you for all the entertainment you've brought us over the years.
