A Vision for Quakers in the 21st Century
“What do Quakers have to offer today's world?”
It's a question I've been asking Friends for years, and there are a lot of different answers. But I've noticed they all have one thing in common... and it's given me a big idea.
Kitulu Women’s Group - Banja, Kenya
Just finished a week of filming here in Kenya where I met with 4 different women’s groups to hear their stories.
Everywhere we went, Jackie and I were met with joy and celebration, and the women we interviewed shared stories of serious challenge and hardship all while praising God and giving thanks.
The attached video is an accurate depiction of the reception we encountered every time we visited a group. Unfettered joy, celebration, welcome.
We’ve had to postpone the last leg of the trip so instead of heading to India next, I fly home tonight. But it will feel good to be back in my bed. And I can’t wait to start looking through all of this footage! So grateful to our hosts here in Kenya and every group that welcomed us with open arms and open hearts. What a beautiful place, and beautiful people. Bwana Asifiwe!
The women of Kassasi village sang throughout our visit and it was super joyful. Makes me a little sad for those of us who spend all our time with our earbuds in instead of singing and laughing together.
