Here’s the moment WE WON AN EMMY, Otter Tail Lakes Country!
“Rural By Choice” - our purposeful documentary series breaking down the popular misconceptions about the rural lifestyle - wins the Emmy Award for “Outstanding Lifestyle Series!”
Since we didn’t give an Acceptance Speech at the Award’s Ceremony on SAT, here it goes…
-Thank you to leaders at Otter Tail County, Minnesota for their trust & support in this project. Marketing is difficult to quantify - ROI doesn’t easily show up on a spreadsheet - but our innovative approach continues to attract a global audience.
-Thank you to every family who opened up their lives so we could share OTC with the world.
-Thank you to my family for their never-ending love, and thank YOU for watching & following along.
My personal mission is “to unite rural and urban America by breaking down the negative stereotypes that may exist.” Our political leaders & algorithm-inspired social media feeds want us to believe we’re so different, we’re not allowed to work together, and we have to choose a side. That’s not true, and it does NOT reflect the conversations I have with people from different backgrounds every day. We CAN learn from each other and love one another.
Stay tuned because our work to unite is just getting started… 👀

How you share your story matters.
Your business may have THE BEST product or service in the world, but consumers are searching for a connection. Telling WHO you are and WHY is key.
“I always use the words ‘community development’ because at the core that’s what we are all about. We are very purposeful people who want to help.”

Work-From-Home was (mostly) a dream just 2-3 years ago, but has created a new door to healthy work-life balance.
“That has changed rural living. Now, you can work at Target Headquarters here in the Twin Cities and you can work from your porch looking over the lake in Otter Tail Lakes Country. You can do that now.”
