An old video I recorded went viral back before viral was really a word. I sold the rights to it for an initial juicy check.
I was consistently getting paid from it until it naturally died out in cyberspace as viral videos do...
But every once in a while I still get a cute little check from it and it still amazes me. Now it seems the video is going viral again more than 10 years later!
This is why video is Queen more specifically short form video.
Also a good lesson in publishing & royalties. This one 8 second video has paid me atleast $7K since it hit the internet.

Did you know I lost my first 10 pageant competitions??
Yup and I was this 👌 close to quitting pageantry all together.
I felt like it wasn’t my thing.
But something kept drawing me back..
year after year.
Even though I continued to compete, my game didn’t improve. I was still seeing the SAME results.
Many of those first few competitions, I didn’t even place.
Yup, I walked away empty handed and maybe with a new T-shirt.
Then one day EVERYTHING changed.
EVERYTHING!!
I re-evaluated my scores and realized I lost the MOST POINTS during the interview phase.
This immediately led me to lose the entire competition before I even got onstage.
I invested in hours of coaching.
Tapped into my journalistic expertise…
And the game changed from there.
Now I’m sharing ALL my years of communication and media experience with YOU.
The Book of Beauty.
Available SOON!!

Ever since I could remember, I’ve been popping my collar, lol jk! But for real, I grew up in a home where ABC 7 Chicago was ALWAYS on! Which means, I started watching news even before I knew how to do basic math or read. Or you could say, I grew up being mentored by my role models.
Growing up watching ABC (and now working for that same company) means two things 1) I am part of a legacy of greatness in local television news. I hardly ever caught a small mistake watching ABC 7, it doesn’t matter how many shows they run a day, they deliver excellent high quality news every single day. 2) It means I have to deliver that same high quality journalism every time I step on the set. I am part of something bigger than me (DISNEY) and I have so many excellent journalists ahead of me.
Now being able to FINALLY call myself a TV Reporter (it literally took 5 years to get here), everyday is a blessing and I have to remind myself of that every morning when I walk into the newsroom. Being a TV Reporter means I have the unique opportunity every day to tell the people of Rockford what’s going on here. I am part of the ecosystem of what makes a great small community; you have the teachers, police officers, mom & pop business owners, mailmen & women, criminals, firefighters and you have the TV Reporters.
Even though now a days, the definition of TV Reporter has evolved to being called a Multimedia Journalist, there’s something about saying I am a TV Reporter that gets my heart racing. Besides getting to know all of you, one my favorite parts of my job is getting ready to go on-air. As a former Beauty Queen (certified, give me my check), doing my hair and makeup is what makes me a girly girl at heart and I love I have a job which combines all of my skills, even the superficial ones: interviewing, shooting, editing, makeup, being on tv and being social.
I’m a shy person, if I don’t know you, so if you see me in the streets of Rockford say “HI”
