JCC Mid-Westchester invites you to the Jacob Burns Film Center for a special screening of the thought provoking film “The Angel Levine” (1970), directed by Slovak filmmaker Jan Kadar.
Based on a short story by Jewish-American novelist Bernard Malamud, the film stars Zero Mostel as Morris Mishkin, an elderly Jewish tailor who, when plagued by hard times, prays to God for help. His prayers are answered in the form of a most unusual angel named Levine, a young hustler played by the late Harry Belafonte.
This special screening will be held tomorrow, February 29th, at the Jacob Burns Film Center located in Pleasantville, New York. The event will begin at 6:45pm and run until 9:00pm. Single admission for this event is $16, and adult membership pass holders will get in free. The Scarsdale Adult School invites you to meet debut novelist Jessica Saunders in conversation with experienced author Leigh Stein as they discuss Saunders’ “Love, Me “(2024). This contemporary romance incorporates celebrity gossip along with flashbacks to the 1990s for an entertaining and quick read about self-discovery and the enduring pull of old flames. Venture into the professional lawyer and soccer mom’s realm of “what ifs” and fantasies of second-chance love with the one that got away. Discussion will also cover the nitty gritty of book promotion, capitalizing on Stein’s expertise in helping fellow authors publicize their works on social media, primarily TikTok.
This discussion will be held from 11:00am to 12:30pm on Thursday, February 15th at the Westchester Reform Temple. Time will be reserved for Q&A. The class fee of $30 includes a copy of the book.
