Richland-Florence Garden Club Honors Military Veterans

The members of the Richland-Florence Garden Club honored our Veterans by placing patriotic, red, white and blue wreaths at the Blue Star Memorials in Richland and Florence.
Blue Star Markers pay tribute to al those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. The National Council of State Garden Clubs adopted the program and began a Blue Star Highway system that covers thousands of miles across the United States. The state of Mississippi has 60 Blue Star and Gold Star markers. The Blue Star was adopted because it had become an icon in World War 2 and was seen on flags and banners in homes for sons and daughters away at war. The inscription on the Blue Star markers reads, “A tribute to the Armed Forces who have defended the United State of America”.
The Richland-Florence Garden Club is a member of the Natchez Trace District of the Garden Clubs of Mississippi, and federated with the National Garden Club, Inc and a member of Deep South Garden Clubs, Inc. Please folow us on our FaceBook page at Richland-Florence Garden Club.
