SPC updated the severe risk area for later today to confine the risk for isolated severe storms to areas along and east/south of a Baudette to Fargo line. If thunderstorms develop, hazards could include hail up to the size of quarters and wind gusts up to 60 MPH. The cold front moving through the area will extend roughly from Baudette to Fargo mid to late afternoon.

A cold front will move through the area. Isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible near the front as it moves through. If storms can develop, the main threats are hail to quarters and winds up to 60 mph.

👩‍🏫We did the math and does anybody have a guess on how many miles our play-by-play announcers drove to cover Blackduck Public Schools, Park Rapids Schools, Nevis Athletics and Extracurricular Activities, Walker Hackensack Akeley Public Schools, Menahga Public School and more school sports last year... 🏈🏀⚾️🥎🏐

Updated 2 hours later because someone came close. The final tally was 21,234 miles. That's Football, Hockey, Basketball, Wrestling and some Volleyball, Baseball, Softball and 4 trips to State.

Air quality alert issued due to wildfire smoke for north central, northwest, northeast, and east central Minnesota. The alert takes effect 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 16, and runs until noon on Monday, Aug. 19.

Air quality is expected to reach the orange AQI category, which is unhealthy for sensitive groups. In the orange area, sensitive groups should limit prolonged or heavy exertion and time spent outdoors.
