Congratulations to Criminal Investigation Technician Jannet Amezcua, our December Employee of the Month! ❤️

Jannet recently provided critical Spanish-to-English translation support for SVU detectives during a complex investigation involving a potential life sentence. Her real-time translations during calls, suspect interviews, and victim interviews helped investigators act quickly, stay informed, and safely take a suspect into custody.

She routinely goes above and beyond, coming in early, staying late, and always stepping up when her team needs her. Her peers describe her as a huge asset with a strong work ethic, a positive attitude, and an unwavering willingness to help. Congrats!

Welcome Michael Carter, our newest Lateral Firefighter-Paramedic! ⭐

Ventura Fire has long been the department Michael hoped to serve with. Growing up nearby and spending years in the area, Ventura has always felt like home. With family close by and three young sons to share the city’s beaches and outdoors with, Michael is excited to begin this next chapter of his career.

Before the fire service, Michael attended culinary school in Santa Barbara and worked his way through the restaurant industry, from serving tables to kitchen management. He began his fire service career with the Maui Fire Department, later moving to Texas where he served with Celina Fire and completed paramedic school.

When he’s not on duty, Michael’s time is spent with his wife and three boys. When he can squeeze it in, he enjoys hiking, camping, fishing, cooking, and working out.

Welcome to the Ventura Fire family, Michael!

Congratulations to all!!!
Thanks for your great work! We love having an awesome football team representing our community!!!

The Pirate football team was prominent on the Southern California Football Association's All-Northern Conference awards announced earlier this month. VC had 14 first team selections, including eight individuals who were unanimously chosen for nine categories. Tayvion McCoy led the honorees as he was a unanimous pick as a wide receiver and punt return specialist and safety Charlie Neos was VC's lone unanimous pick on defense. Behind the Badge with Officer Luke Tribe ⭐

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Officer Tribe moved to Ventura County at age 10 and has called the area home ever since. After attending middle and high school in the Westlake/Thousand Oaks area, he’s built both a career and a life here.

Luke is approaching two years with our team. Before joining, he worked as a bank security guard and as a manager at Chipotle, experiences that helped shape his work ethic and people skills. He’s also finishing his associate degree online through Moorpark and Ventura College.

Luke serves as a Drone Program Pilot, one of only eight certified officers at our agency. After completing a 40-hour course and FAA licensing, he’s used the drone to locate missing persons, clear potentially dangerous areas, assist with vehicle pursuits and high-risk stops, and support fireworks enforcement.

"What stands out most to me about VPD is the supportive culture," said Luke. "Leaders emphasize officer safety, strong teamwork, and genuine camaraderie. Family matters too! My supervisors and teammates know my family, and I know theirs. It's truly a great place to work."

We’re immensely grateful for Luke’s service.
