The Granville County Board of Education Human Resources Innovation Committee will meet on Monday, March 10, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. at the GCPS Central Office Conference Room, 101 Delacroix Street, Oxford, NC 27565. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss staff reassignment in light of school consolidation, athletics staffing, staff recruitment and retention, and projected 2025-2026 school year staff allotments.

The Granville County Board of Education will hold its regular meeting on Monday, March 3, 2025 at 6:00pm at the Mary Potter Center for Education, 200 Taylor Street, Oxford, NC 27565.

On 2/22/25 at approximately 0954 the GCSO responded to W Lyon Station Rd regarding a domestic violence call. Upon the arrival of GCSO deputies’, information was obtained that a possible assault occurred inside the home.

The male occupant at the residence refused to exit the home and subsequently barricaded himself within the residence. The female while being interviewed provided information that there was a firearm and potentially other hazardous items inside the residence.

After several attempts to have the male occupant exit the residence a determination was made to activate the GCSO Special Response Team. After being briefed, members of the Granville County Sheriff’s Office SRT, and Granville County Animal Control arrived at the residence where entry was made.

At approximately 1356 the male subject was located and taken into custody without incident. The subject was detained and evaluated by Granville County EMS. The subject was then transported to the Granville Medical Center for further evaluation.

This was an isolated incident and there was no threat to the neighboring residents. The GCSO would like to thank the residents of our community for their patience, the Granville County Animal Control, GC 911, GC EMS, Stem PD, Oxford PD, Butner Public Safety and Creedmoor PD for their assistance during this event.
