Be an Entrepreneur Who Thinks Like An Investor..
Attached image is the FOUNDER of TESLA.... He's not Elon Musk.
His name is Martin Forest Eberhard...
Martin ran his company Tesla from 2003 to 2008...at one point, he and his Co founder, Marc Tarpenning needed money and they started hunting investors. Their path crossed with Elon Musk who had just sold a business and had some cash.... Elon Musk saw the opportunity in Tesla and invested about $8 million dollars... Fast forward to 2023, Tesla is now worth $566 Billion, while Martin and Marc who were the founders have both lost their positions in Tesla.
Here's the lesson...
Tesla Founders, Martin and Marc are ENTREPRENEURS who didn't think like an investor..... They had a great idea and worked for 5 years to build that idea into a business... But they didn't see a future beyond 8 million dollars.... Another entrepreneur with the mind of an investor saw a bigger picture. His name is Elon Musk. Today, Elon Musk, with an initial investment of 8 million dollars controls Tesla and has become the world's most influential man.
Don't be like Martin... Be like Elon Musk..... See beyond today.... Invest in the future and don't give up too soon.
Whenever I hear people call Elon Musk the founder of TESLA, I weep the same way I weep when people say that Bill Gates developed Microsoft Windows.
I am an innovative entrepreneur, not an inventor. I am not interested in the inventor title. I look at what is already in existence, improve on it and sell. I make my money and the customers are happy.
Every entrepreneur should have the mind of an investor, not just the mindset of an inventor - lest you invent your "Tesla" but lose it to an investor.
You will be shocked to know that Elon Musk didn't start SpaceX too - he took over SpaceX from the founders. When our kids are grown, they will think that Elon Musk built Twitter just as many of us think that Bill Gates built Microsoft Windows.
Have the mindset of an investor - even if you are an inventor.
