Want to get out of the house and do see something different. Let's go to Appleton and have some fun.
The event is called Light the night market.Which is being organized by Appleton Downtown Inc., is inspired by Bazaar After Dark, a previous nighttime event sponsored by the Fox Cities Chamber of Commerce.

Bazaar After Dark was well-known for its one-of-a-kind live performers, such as fire dancers, and approximately one hundred vendors. In New London last year, Bazaar After Dark was conducted. It will be on College Ave by Morrison and Superior St. It's free for everyone to come. It starts at 530pm on Friday and goes until 930pm.

Let's not forget the music. Through a collaboration with Mile of Music, there will be live music and entertainment in Houdini Plaza and music tents along College Avenue, featuring performances by bands like The Astronomers from Wisconsin. Other artists including The Lavender Project, Adam Lee Acoustic, and Lilie Fouts are also featured.

Various performers spread out across the party, such as Fly Circus & Aerial Arts' aerialists, Dragon dancers from the Chinese Cultural Association of Northeast Wisconsin,Rondini the Magician as well as the Spiritwalkers, from Fox Valley Fire Arts.

Some area businesses will be present if you'd rather participate in hands-on activities. Hazelmade Art Studio will have art supplies available, and Appleton Axe will have an axe-throwing mobile trailer and yard games. I'll be tryin out the Axe throwing bc I've never done it.

There will also be good worth trying out.
The food trucks available at the market will be
4 Schmidts and Giggles BBQ
Hot Biddy's Food Truck, Inferno Heat Hibachi,Osorio's Latin Fusion, and Vegan Nightmare
The restaurants that will have food booths will be :
Aunty's Café, Bowl Ninety-One, Crazy Sweet, Mai's Deli, Uni Uni Bubble Tea, and Voyageurs Bakehouse. I've never heard of any of these. I'm not scared of trying anything new. Any new or developing info go to
https://appletondowntown.org/light-the-night-market/
Hope to see everyone down there!!

Hey Oshkosh, Neenah, Menasha and Appleton Follow & Like to be in the know like stories like this.

End of an Era and New Beginning A farewell tour of Webster Stanley Elementary and Middle School is being offered to the general public. Both May 3 and May 7 will have tours available from 6 to 8 p.m. Self-guided tours of the schools that will close at the conclusion of the 2022–2023 academic year are open to visitors. No registration is required, according to the district, and attendees are invited to show up at any moment throughout the two-hour session. Participants should enter by either the elementary or middle school's main doors at 915 Hazel St.

It's really crazy bc those who lived here. That school has been there when we had Sawdust Days in town and everything else in between.

The building housing Webster Stanley Elementary and Middle School was built in 1953. It first had a classroom addition in 1965, then a library/instructional materials center addition in 1980. A gym and classroom extension were built in 1992, and the building's most recent classroom expansion was added in 1997. I played basketball when i went to school at Merrill Middle School in 1998

On January 6th 2023 at 11-6pm opening day. There will be a brand-new clothing store called Love, Elle will open in the RiverHeath complex, providing Appleton customers more choices for doing their small-business shopping.

Love, Elle's proprietor, Alyssa Jones, has experience running small businesses. She established the College Avenue Fika Tea Bar in 2019 and the upscale jewelry store Alyssa & Anna seven years ago. Two doors down from the location of her upcoming store, in the RiverHealth complex, Alyssa & Anna has a second location.

Jones stated, "I wanted to bring some modern fashion to the Fox Cities. "I want a place that seems upscale and costly without actually being expensive," the traveler said.

The prices of the items from Love, Elle range from $30 to $150, with jackets and handbags being the most expensive ones available. Jones claimed that the average product costs $50. The store will also sell jewelry designed by Alyssa & Anna in addition to apparel.

All of our items are reasonably priced, according to Jones. For $200, you can assemble a full outfit.

Focus on Love Jones has been working long days procuring stuff, putting together furniture, and decorating the space since Elle started working there two and a half months ago. She characterized the room and the clothing as being minimalistic, stylish, and modern.

It wasn't as labor-intensive as starting a jewelry store, according to Jones. However, we made a lot of work.

"Choosing Civility," a book by P.M. Forni, discusses interacting with strangers in our neighborhoods. According to Forni, the times when we were kept in check by our neighbors' knowledge and familiarity with us are long gone. We are currently dealing with rudeness and antagonism both inside and outside of our neighborhoods. We got to change the way we view things and see things bc not everyone is like our past. We must first open our eyes so we can truly see.

We should be aware that formerly, many of these neighborhoods had natural borders established by shared nationality, and neither internal nor external forces were responsible for inciting conflict or creating terror within cities or communities. Why then do we reside among strangers? Can we overcome these conflicts or phobias? Let's first examine why we live in a community of strangers.

We share our neighborhoods with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and nations. When people's beliefs and ideas on these topics diverge, it can engender antagonism, prejudice, resentment, and wrath. Fights, killings, or violent protests could result from these feelings. Alternatively, it might spark nonviolent protests. Yes, we reside in unfamiliar neighborhoods as strangers. How do we as a people foster unity while acknowledging our differences? The employees of the Roanoke Rapids branch of the United States Postal Service adopted a fatherless family on Wednesday and gave him gifts for Christmas.

The incident started when Jennifer Garcia, a Roanoke Rapids-based USPS city carrier, claimed she was in the Store Next Door (New Dixie Mart) on Fifth Street when she saw a guy and his son waiting in line at the checkout register. Garcia explained to the cashier that he was buying his son some snacks for the day because he had to drive him to school, pick up his other children, and transport them to their respective schools and daycare facilities.

As he left, she thought, "Damn, that sounds like a mother's job," she recalled.

Garcia claimed that is when the cashier at the desk informed her that Emanuel Parks is the sole parent of eight children and that he lost his wife in May.

Knowing the difficulties of being a single parent, she claimed she requested Parks' contact information from the clerk and stated that the staff adopts at least two families each year to provide assistance in some way. The post office, where employees interact with and get to know their customers every day, may get hectic around election season and the Christmas season, according to Garcia.

That's a lot, so I thought it'd be fantastic if we could relieve some of their problems and simply assist them, she said.

Garcia claimed that she contacted Parks this year to ask if they might adopt his family, and he agreed. She claimed that the post office staff approved of the adoption and opted to move forward with it. Given the size of the family, Garcia said they chose to adopt just one child this year, assigning each office worker's specialty to a different child. A story like this reminds of what Christmas truly means.

Even more things happening in Appleton. The proprietors of Whisk & Arrow Sugar Studio, Pat and Nea Hahn, have transformed the former Paradise Island structure at 2821 N. Ballard Rd. into FOME Food & Company, a brand-new eatery.

FOME has been serving breakfast items, soups, salads, and sandwiches for delivery or pickup since Nov. 3. However, the FOME dining room officially opened on December 9. The restaurant's manager, Alec Espinola, claimed that the first weekend the dining room was "full." Finding new foods to try is never a bad thing.

The FOME serves wine, beer, coffee, and mimosas along with breakfast, lunch, and brunch. Food items on the menu include "The Crunch," a romaine salad with carrots, cherries, and apple cider vinegar dressing, as well as grilled chicken sandwiches and cornmeal pancakes. It's definitely different but I'm open to new things. We all know more than meets the eye.

For more info they re open Wednesday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., are the hours of operation for FOME. Call 920-202-3541 to find out more, or search "FOME" on Facebook.

For Valentines Day I wanted to be alil bit different. I thought most women have everything to think about. Why not one day just lay back and just clear your mind. I thought about doing was a raffle for $5 and the prize would be a 60 min float journey at Float Light in Appleton. Figure the least you lose is $5 the most you win is a 60 min float journey. I would like to know in the comment of Yes or Me. Who would be interested in this?

This is the outlook for Wednesday, and Thursday, with inclement weather possibly lingering into Friday, according to forecasters. It starts with freezing then it snows for days. Whoever asked for this Merry Christmas bc your wish came. Everyone be careful and say warm. This isn't for the week of heart.

The desire of co-owner Elizabeth Redman to move Thunderbird Bakery downtown is now a step closer to being a reality.

Thunderbird will debut on January 4 in the first-floor location of the former Planet Perk, which shuttered that location in June, at the Rise and Grind co-working space, 240 Algoma Blvd. I'll be checking it out bc what I like most about this place it's home grown.

Oshkosh native Redman and her husband, bakery co-owner Trent Wester, established Thunderbird's production kitchen at 1335 Planeview Drive in the fall of 2019, but Redman said their ultimate aim has always been to open a storefront in the heart of the community.

According to Redman, the Thunderbird café will specialize in pastries, particularly warm, savory ones.

A croissant with broccoli, a croissant with chicken and broccoli, and a pastry with hot breakfast brats from Wagner's Market served with a maple syrup sauce are all recent additions. I'll be trying the croissant with chicken and broccoli.

Along with rye brownies, a variety of breads, and "a few other delights that customers may have seen over the last couple of years, but we haven't had routinely on our menu," they'll also sell other pastries. If you like to check more of what they offer or to order online here is the link.
