And, yes. Mud can get lodged in those ears of his. We flushed Coconut's ears once. Once. Then we let Jim do it and now we'll go to a professional.
The noise!
Here in Wisconsin I'm thinking March won't look this nice. But we're on the way!
You're going to have to wait for my big reveal until tomorrow. I have a date with my grandsons for breakfast so we're out of here. But it will be worth the wait.
It's big news. Exciting news! We're going to help rescue more dogs, raise more funds, create awareness, and more.
Why? So that every day can be Valentine's Day for more dogs and more humans.
Tomorrow is the day!
We are growing! When I started this little Facebook group we didn't have any followers and we are up to 251 today. I know we will grow and I love curating and writing articles of interest to the doggy community. And the memes!
I want to give a huge shout out to my husband and dog dad, Gary. Many of you remember Gary who was at pretty much every event hosted by NEW PAWS. But he is also the guy who works with me on all the banners and memes. He created both of my websites and when asked if we could afford for me to open Wag Away Publishing and pay heaps of money to publish my new book he told me to go for it.
Gary has never read any of my other books, and there are TEN of them, but he read this one cover to cover.
I love our community here and I can tell you without his support none of this would exist.
Please invite others to join our page and let's build this into a community where people can ask question, get answers, find support, and help to rescue more dogs.
Next week Gary and I are meeting with a foster-based rescue that works with a shelter in Alabama. I am excited to think that I we will finally have a partner who we can support and donate proceeds from the book to as well as maybe helping them as we helped NEW PAWSibilities.
Thank you for understanding what we do and supporting us.
Today is National Backwards Day! How many of you ever wants to go back in time to when you didn't have your specific dog? Not me! And I'm sure you don't either.
Yes, they might drive you crazy right now, trust me, Coconut wanting to go out for a long walk is not happening no matter how much he gives me his opinion, but going backwards isn't want I want.
I'd love to go backwards and not be in the car at the exact time when the SUV slammed into us. But it did. So wishing for a different ending to that lovely beach day is something that will never happen.
And then there are all the dogs who don't want to go backwards. The dogs who were strays or abused, hungry, those without hope.
Once a dog is in a rescue or shelter or a foster situation there's no going backwards. The question is, what is their forward?
Animal wellness groups around the country are closing like NEW PAWS did. They have less money, higher operating costs fewer volunteers. The result is that an ever-increasing number of dogs being killed because there's no room. For them, there's no going backward and their forward is tragic.
Thank you for caring about your dogs and others out there who need you. Together we can spread the word about the dogs I post here, we can share our stories to encourage people to adopt a dog, we can volunteer, donate financially where we can, and give supplies to rescues who need them.
If we all do a little, we can make sure that more dogs are in a place where they don't go backwards or forwards; they stay exactly where they need to stay. Loved and happy with their people.
So this is fun! Someone made this for me.
May this be a much better year for all homeless animals and the people who will give them their new homes.
