Don’t forget kids! This Saturday is FREE COMIC BOOK DAY! One of my favorite times of the year where local comic shops open their doors and give away free comics to all who show up. It’s a pretty solid lineup this year, and to see what comics will be available ahead of Saturday, visit: freecomicbookday.com. Check your local shops for opening times, and bring the whole family. Cosplayers, local artists and more are typically out to celebrate, so call your LCBS to find out the day’s festivities. I recommend in Winter Garden, here in Clermont, or right beside Home Depot. This is an awesome way to get your family reading together, and enjoying a physical medium as opposed to tablets or YouTube. Physical books/comics help to nurture one’s imagination while being a wonderful way to cope with stress, anxiety, chronic illness. There’s just something magical about holding a physical comic, turning the pages, and the intoxicating aroma of a fresh book in your hands.

Bonus: many comic shops bring out cosplayers for photo ops, including storm troopers and Star Wars characters, and even being in local artists to sell their works in store! They also provide board games and raffles as well, just check with your LCBS (local comic book shop) on the day’s activities.
