Mirador Readers: In recent days we have received much feedback regarding the article "Righteous House Party Themes" published online and in our November issue on November 7, 2014. Though we stand by the article's position in the Entertainment section of our paper and it's relevance to the lives of Miramonte students, we acknowledge that some of the statements made in the article, intended as satire, could be seen as inappropriate or culturally insensitive. We are pleased to announce that Charles Hinman and Saane Halaholo are the winners of two FREE tickets to Senior Ball! Thank you to all who participated in our contest! We hope everyone attending Ball has a fantastic time!

Charles Hinman and Saane Halaholo:

Charles felt like Miramonte culture in general pressures guys to think of creative and off-the-wall yet also personal and meaningful ways to ask girls to Ball. However, while Charles was thinking of a way to ask Saane, he realized he was not endowed with the creativity needed to come up with an elaborate stunt of that caliber. So instead, he turned to the tried and true art of poetry and ended up with possibly the worst sonnet ever written. Nevertheless, he asked Mrs. Krochmal - who laughed as she read it - if she would pass it to Saane in their English class while she was handing out some other papers so it wouldn't be suspicious. Although those other papers unfortunately turned out to be a quiz, Saane found time to read his poem during the quiz and afterwards said yes.

Steven Shepard and Stephanie Yau:

Stephanie has always wanted a huge teddy bear and Steven thought it was a good time to give her that. He surprised her at lunch on the senior lawn with a huge teddy bear with a shirt on saying, "Go to ball with me?" and roses. She was very happy and said yes.
