After much thought, I have decided to retire. I currently have all the orders I can handle through the end of the year. Thank you everyone.
In 2009, during the financial collapse, I was laid off from a company I had worked at for 18 years. I decided to go full-time with this business.
I had heard if people appreciate your business, they will root for you. And I have felt that. Thank you for your business, your referrals, your positive comments, and your reviews.
I thought in 2009 that I would do this for 5 years or so,. Who would have guessed that 15 years later, I still would be going?!
My husband retired in June. We are looking to slow down a bit and plan on visiting friends and enjoying the warm winter in Thailand.

Important announcement:
Take 5 has proudly served the La Crosse area since 2007. Since that time we have saved tens of thousands of hours of precious family memories. Where does the time go?

My husband retired last week. I have spent a lot of time trying to figure out a plan for myself. I wanted long-term time off to travel vs a 15 hr work week. After talking with lots of people (some of them were you!), I have finally come up with a plan. I am semi-retired. I will be closing down for months at a time. Will this work? I have no idea! But I am not quite ready to give up on Take 5 permanently.

What does this mean for you?

Take 5 will be closed from June 20th- August 20th, 2023.
We will re-open Aug 21st-Dec 31st, 2023

I can't express my gratitude to all of you. I felt like I had so much support. I felt like the community was "rooting for me" to succeed.

Although I am not closing permanently, it is a big change and I am feeling nostalgic and grateful.

Oh, the picture was in 2009. I had just gone full-time with Take 5. The piece of equipment in the back was my first film scanner. It was my first big investment of $3,000. At that point and time, I felt like, "Ok, here we go!"

Honestly, if anyone wants any of these I will give them to you. I tried giving these away on facebook and people said they wanted them and never showed up. But I know my customers wouldn't do that! A customer brought an order in this week and said he has been holding onto this article. As you can see the date was 2016! This really isn't that unusual. It takes quite a bit of time to find your memories and get them together. But we were here in 2016 and we are still here!

You may recognize this case as an audio cassette tape holder. This was repurposed and brought in with all these movie films. I myself had a cassette player in the 80's. I used to listen to the Top 40 just to record my favorite songs. I spent hours doing that!

Sometimes we get tapes are are all marked and in order. Othertimes we get a box of mystery tapes. It doesn't matter, we can transfer them. Remember you are not charged for any blank tapes or any tapes that are all taped off of TV. We used to do that, remember? hook your TV up to the VHS player and tape "All My Children."

First time I have seen a reel on a spool of thread! This tiny bit probably was a result of the film breaking and the owner not sure what to do with it. Pretty clever! We have extra spools (film not thread!) here. I will put this on my empty spool and see what we have!

Back in Massachusetts where I grew up, we called these "elastics". As a Midwestern, I learned that they are "rubber bands". Either way, these are some from the 1970s. It's interesting that they have the little tail on the end. I see these all the time holding the film onto reels so the film wouldn't go flying all over. They had to have been quite common.
