Jonnaya Ballard and her bestie wanted fresh nails for New Year’s Eve and stopped at a small local salon near Midtown. There was just one problem. She didn’t intend to pay. Her bestie took off, and Jonnaya tried to do the same.

Our patrol officers arrested her and transported her to jail, where she became combative. She struck one officer in the face, causing injury, and then bit him.

What started as a minor theft turned into a violent felony assault. These incidents are becoming the new normal and our officers are injured far too often.
