Douglas County Sheriff's Office (NE) provides an update on traffic statistics for the first half of 2025.

The DCSO is warning the public of a significant increase of thefts and property being stolen from vehicles in Northwestern Douglas County. Specifically, there have been multiple recent instances of tools being stolen from unlocked work vehicles.

Thieves look for every opportunity to victimize those in our community and will take advantage of unlocked vehicle doors, some will even go as far as damaging vehicles if they see something valuable inside. This is your reminder to ALWAYS keep your car doors and windows locked, take valuables with you when you're not in your car and keep them out of sight and never leave your car running while unattended.

The DCSO reminds the public of the importance of keeping an eye out if they see anything suspicious or out of the norm to contact the DCSO non-emergency line at 402- 444-5802 or please 9-1-1 if it is an emergency. This can be anything from a suspicious vehicle to anyone who seems out of place in the neighborhood.
