If your goal is to get into a traditional publishing house, an agent will be vital to your success in getting in the door. Hybrid or partner publishing companies like us don't require an agent.

An agent can be helpful for services like contract reviews, established connections, and brand building. If you have a high-stakes publishing deal then an agent would also be helpful to bring peace of mind in navigating details and managing expectations.

Literary agents are a gold mine of expertise and knowledge which can be very helpful in developing your career as a professional writer. That said, they aren't always necessary and each publishing company has a different outlook on them. Usually, the publisher will indicate on their website whether they only take agented submissions.

If you choose to pursue your writing career on your own, you'll likely save money you would have paid out in commissions to an agent and some publishers provide brand building and other marketing services to help you.

At Wilt and Wade, we review each manuscript and meet with each author to determine each author's needs.

We see these promises and more every day on social media ads. If any of these were real, there would be a bunch of authors out there singing the praises of these companies.

Right?!?!

Sure, you can write a book in 30 days. But PUBLISH in 30 days? Not likely.

Making a million dollars as a writer takes time. Unless you’re JK Rowling or James Patterson.

Hitting the #1 spot on the bestseller list? Which bestseller list? There is one where that can happen really fast if your book is about basket-weaving while ascending Mt. Everest with a broken leg in 1902 . . . and at least ten friends buy your book.

We want you to get your book published quickly while also taking the time necessary to make it so great that you actually have a chance to make money and hit bestseller lists. We don’t promise these outcomes, but anyone who does is lying to you.

When you’re choosing how to approach your writing career, do it with care and intention.

Lawsuits are coming faster than the US Copyright office can make decisions about generative AI. While AI platforms like ChatGPT are helpful tools in many scenarios, we must have a quicker reaction about copyright protections for authors whose work is at risk.

A group of authors including Sarah Silverman who are suing ChatGPT maker OpenAI have begun to take aim at its defenses in California federal court, rejecting the company's argument that their copyrights were not violated and that a chunk of the case should be thrown out.

As a publisher, we are actively monitoring and researching the issue of AI and copyrighted work. Though we are in a time of uncertainty surrounding our work as writers and publishers, our goal is to keep an open perspective while ensuring our authors are well-informed. Until and unless there are definitive laws passed or guidance developed, we will operate under our own standard procedures when it comes to AI generated work as well as determining our role in advocating for our authors.
