Ms. Karine Sokpoh is the Managing Attorney for 402Legal, a law firm that represents individuals and businesses in various immigration, trademark and corporate matters.
Karine is also the founder and President of the Midlands African Chamber, Inc., the only black chamber of commerce in the state of Nebraska.
Moreover, Karine is a commissioner for the state of Nebraska Commission on African American Affairs. She recently became an adjunct professor at Metropolitan Community College where she teaches business law.
Originally from Togo, West Africa, Karine earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Management from the University of Lomé, and aBachelors of General Studies in Communications with a minor in Women’s Studies from the University of Nebraska Omaha. She received her Juris Doctor, Magna Cum Laude, from Creighton University School of Law, with a Certificate of Concentration in International and Comparative Law.
Karine is the recipient of the 2022 Clio Reisman Award and was one of the 2022 WCA tribute to women awardees.
In 2021, Karine received the Midlands African Chamber Inc., Founders’ award and the Global Leadership Africa Summit Award. In 2020, Karine was recognized with a Visionary award by the Nebraska Lawyers Foundation. She was also named one of the 2019 Midlands Business Journal 40 under 40 award recipients. In 2016, Karine also received the University of Nebraska at Omaha CPACS Alumni Award for Excellence in Public Service. She was named an Outstanding Young Lawyer in 2010 by the NSBA.
Karine is active in the community as a board member of the Women’s Fund, a member of the advisory board of Global Partners in Hope, a nonprofit building hospitals in Africa. In recently years Karine has created the Pitch Black competition to award funding to small diverse business owners.
Karine is married to Dominique Kouassi and they are raising two strong smart and bold girls Cyriana and Nika Kouassi. When Karine is not traveling the world, she spends her free time reading about traveling the world.
