So bummed to hear that The Sonics had to cancel their upcoming European tour due to a medical issue. Kaz and I were lucky enough to catch one of their last rehearsals and they sounded really f**king good. Here’s footage of them doing a cover of Little Richard’s “The Girl Can’t Help It”. Here’s hoping for a speedy recovery… Dusty Watson Brian Kasnyik
Big day! Live and Uncensored, the great double album by our friends ZEKE, arrived today. Giving that album love, and sending love to Richard Yalowitz, Don Hales, as their episode keeps racking up the views! And sending love to Jason and Jeff as they all conquer Europe. We love you guys!
We talked about this during the ZEKE episode, and it was such an amazing night! Andrew McKeag was in Seattle and talked to Kaz about throwing together a band a doing a show. And what a killer band that came together!
The aforementioned Andrew McKaeg of The Presidents Of The United States Of America - and Uncle Joe's Big Ol' Driver, on guitar and vocals. Richard Yalowitz, aka Blind Marky Felchtone of Zeke on guitar. Jon Merithew of C Average on bass, and Mike Musberger of the Posies and The Fastbacks on drums.
They rehearsed in Kaz’s photo studio, (the rehearsal was killer), then played our favorite local bar, Pints Barn, for about 100 people. A show that’s been talked about for years, with most people saying “I wish I was there!”
Here’s a little 1-minute snippet recorded on my crappy phone at the time and it still sounds amazing. The show was recorded and Brian Kasnyik has talked about pressing it on vinyl. How cool would that be? John Sheahan was there to witness it all!
Super producer @kelsiejcaple is at the @garbage x @themightyi show in Ridgefield right now and captured this video of @metric 🤩 they were one of the incredible lady-fronted bands we talked about in episode 22!
Boy does @choirofthemind rock! 🤘🏼#HelpImAlive #Metric #livemusic
Here’s a little video I whipped up to talk about my great morning in Olympia. I walked my girlfriend’s dog Kona, got a fresh haircut, (fresh cut Friday!), celebrated National Donut Day by getting cronuts at Left Bank Pastry, and ultimately buying some records Rainy Day Records.
The new album by The Foo Fighters came out today, and I do a review of it and I get a little raw and emotional. What can I say, music does that to me. I also picked up another album by Spoon and I talk about my growing love for these indie rockers from Austin.
Finally, this is somewhat of a preview of our upcoming 26th episode, an iPhone shot episode of Kaz and my time in So-Cal and Vegas last weekend for the Punk Rock Bowling and Music Festival. We had a blast!
And even though I had sort of an existential crisis at the end of this video and forget who I am, I promise I wasn’t having a stroke. I hope you end up watching both. Enjoy the weekend!
FB/IG had an issue with the song we included in this… sorry for the repost!
Had a great experience at Record Stop Charleston 🤩 great location and really neat shop. Check them out! #recordstop #recordstore #vinylcommunity #vinylcommunity
IMHO, NOFX didn’t become the amazing band that it is today until Aaron Abetya, AKA El Hefe, joined the band in 1991. With the addition of the re-release of So Long and Thanks for All the Shoes, I now have all the studio albums featuring El Hefe, plus some compilations, EPs, and a live album. 18 NOFX items on vinyl, by far the most of of any other band/musician in my collection. And I need to wear my Bad Cop / Bad Cop shirt more often, it’s adorable!
An unboxing video featuring all the Sheahan boys! After a long trip to Bellingham, with tons of time in the car and no loud rock to help me pass the time, it’s nice to come home to another record. I now have bookend Propaghandi albums in my vinyl collection. Victory Lap was released in 2017, 24 years after How To Clean Everything, and it’s amazing to hear how much Chris Hannah’s voice has matured. Turning this one up to 11 tonight!
What’s up rockers! Here’s another unboxing video, this time with the help of my super adorable camera assistant and son, Noah. (Kaz wants to start calling him Noah-FX). I guess that’s pretty applicable for the album I got. Hope you all are enjoying the weekend, and don’t forget, our next episode comes out tomorrow night, and it’s all about our favorite records of the 80s. Love you all! 🤘😘🤘
I guess today is unboxing day at For The Record. Wasn’t expecting this until tomorrow, so I was super excited to pull this out of my mailbox earlier tonight. MxPx has re-released a few of their classic albums, all with different color variants. I grabbed a copy of Life In General to finally add some MXPX to my vinyl collection. While I’m at it, I should probably snag a few more. Gotta send some love to our brothers in Bremerton. Check out their merch at: https://mxpx.com
