This is a #wilddog pack in the #OkavangoDelta in #Botswana which hunted down & devoured a #warthog. We followed two complete hunts with this pack of about 13 adults. This particular hunt was very interesting because some of the young pups went on the hunt with the adults for the very first time! You’ll see one of the younger dogs creep into the video while the two adults are devouring the warthog head. Wild dogs are incredibly fascinating but also endangered. They care about their community, their injured, their sick etc. They are the ultimate team player. While it may be brutal, such is the nature of the wild & this is the circle of life. This was a very surreal encounter. It would have been totally calm & serene if not for the hippo who popped up behind our small boat, cutting us off in the middle between himself & the family of elephants. We didn’t want to risk getting tossed by the hippo so we took the chance on moving closer to the elephants.
