Good morning!!

Many of us see records HIGHS today being in the low 80's under sunny skies elsewhere you're in the 70's.

A weak cold front pushes in Tuesday dropping us back down into the 50's with a warm up into the 70's again Wednesday.

WEATHER 2030

I've been kicking the can around on another page I've had for years that will cover significant weather outside of Oklahoma.

I know some of you are weather buffs all the way around so it might feed your appetite.

Please follow that page if your interested in that kind of thing. I'll start posting to it way more often this year.

This will not have any effect on what I do on this page as it's my primary focus and always will be.

That name will mean something in less than 5 years...

WINTER WEATHER UPDATE

This is long range so take it with a pound of salt.

This upcoming week will be sunny and clear with high temps in the 50's north and in the 70's south most days. A STRONG POLAR FRONT pushes in next Sunday -/+ a day.

MON Feb 10th / Thursday Feb 13th

ARCTIC AIR returns to the southern plains with a few chances of WINTER precipitation.

WINTER SYSTEM #1 is possible starting late Monday the10th bringing SNOW to the state Tuesday/Wednesday. As of now it looks widespread so everyone is in the running. This storm will be first catalyst to bring ARCTIC AIR back into the area. This does not look like an ICE STORM event. SNOWFALL amounts should be the 1-3 inch range.

WINTER SYSTEM #2 is possible around Valentines day (+/-) bringing another batch of SNOW for a large part of the state possibly some HEAVY SNOW in excess of 4 inches. This storm will contribute to the extent and deepness of the ARCTIC AIR with temps in the single digits and teens statewide for that weekend.

As of the last 36 hours multiple data points are in decent agreement with the synoptic outlook for this timeframe which is unusual this far out.

HOT TOPIC

Oklahoma lawmaker wants to license storm chasers.

There's a BILL being proposed in Oklahoma to license "Professional Storm Trackers"

First off I'm not a fan of the BILL whatsoever so I'll get that out of the way.

I just want to clarify its intent which is to allow Chasers affiliated with local media or higher institutions of study to be given first responder status during impactful weather events. Basically you could drive around with red and blue lights and have access to closed damage areas. You would have to apply for a special license and pay a yearly fee to maintain it. Blah Blah Blah

It DOES NOT have language that calls for trying to stop non-licensed chasers from coming into the state to chase storms in any way or fashion. Nor does it propose fines for non-licensed chasers for anything other than run of the mill traffic infractions.

Anyway I'll post the BILL in the comments for you to read..

It will never pass so it's just a talking point for now. I do not support anything about this BILL at all even though I would personally fall under the guidelines to get the license.
