The Odessa Police Department would like to remind the public that roads are expected to remain slick for the rest of today. The icy roads, particularly on overpasses and bridges, can create hazardous driving conditions for motorists.

As a reminder, ice tends to form first on elevated surfaces such as overpasses and bridges, even when other roadways appear clear. Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead, leave early, and reduce their speed to ensure they can navigate these conditions safely.

OPD urges drivers to turn on their headlights, increase their following distance, and avoid sudden braking or sharp turns which can lead to loss of control on icy surfaces. Drivers are encouraged to monitor weather updates, allow extra travel time, and remain vigilant.
