The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony went down Friday night. It streamed live on Disney+. Here are some of the highlights.
1. Actress Laura Dern introduced Sheryl Crow, and called her a "badass goddess". Sheryl performed with help from Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Nicks, and Peter Frampton.
2. Willie Nelson performed with Crow, Dave Matthews, and Chris Stapleton after he was inducted. Matthews was the one who did the honors for Willie.
3. Andrew Ridgeley from Wham inducted George Michael. . . and Miguel, Adam Levine, and Carrie Underwood performed in his honor. (Levine did a sweet version of "Faith".)
4. Tom Morello was the only member of Rage Against the Machine to attend the ceremony. The band was inducted by Ice-T.
5. Kate Bush was not able to attend the ceremony, but didn't say why. She was inducted by Big Boi from Outkast, and St. Vincent sang "Running Up That Hill" in her honor.
6. Queen Latifah introduced Missy Elliott . . . the first female rapper ever inducted. She closed out the show with a medley that included "Get Ur Freak On", "The Rain (Supa D**a Fly)", "Work It", "Pass That Dutch", and "Lose Control".
7. The Spinners didn't perform after their induction . . . New Edition took the stage and did a medley of their hits.
8. Elton John's longtime songwriter Bernie Taupin was inducted in the "Musical Excellence" category. Elton inducted him, then performed "Tiny Dancer" for him.
9. Chaka Khan and Al Kooper also got Musical Excellence Awards . . . DJ Kool Herc and guitarist Link Wray got the Musical Influence Award, and "Soul Train" founder Don Cornelius received the Ahmet Ertegun Award.
10. Jimmy Page made a surprise appearance to induct Link Wray and perform in his honor.
